Nightly construction assists are paying off with 98 Construction. And otherwise been doing nothing but dungeoneering. 104 Dungeoneering tonight.
Yes, I realize I could be maxed by now. Less then 5million xp. But I really enjoy dungeoneering and feel no hurry to get maxed. Got into a team that regularly gets floors less then 40 minutes without fighting and screaming. Going to keep running with them. The crazy thing is, at this pace, I won't get 120 dungeoneering for over a year. Not that I'm pushing that hard. Getting around 200k xp a day there and then wandering off.

First post of the New Year. Had a really busy (IRL) New Year's weekend. Lots of last minute friends and family stuff.
Got 95 Slayer and 97 Constitution on the 2nd. Otherwise it's been really quiet.
I'm a bit disappointed that there's no "2011 Behind the Scenes" from Jagex like there's been in previous years. Even if it's just to say "stay tuned".

I was closing in on 2400 and wanted to finish it before Christmas. So I pushed hard and got to 94 Fletching which brings all my skills to at least 94. With the assists I had been getting smithing xp and was coasting along. I dug out all the ores I had at a clan event and superheated a bunch of them. Then I found 2 half used sc hammers. I can free up and two bank spaces? Woohoo!! With dungeoneering bankspace is at a premium for me so I finished those out and got to 95 Smithing. So at this point I was sitting at 2396 and really wanted to just get 2400. I started looking at the effigies I had banked. I found a few woodcutting ones and got my hands on an axeman's folly. That gave me a couple of lamps that I used for Runecrafting. Then I found 4 thieving/construction 97's. I am not a fan of thieving and can always do assists for construction, but I decided I really wanted the bankspace more. So to my house, brewed up some tea, opened the effigies and hit 95 Construction and using the lamps on Runecrafting hit 95 Runecrafting. (side note: If you do rc effigies 91 and 93 are a pain to find. 95 is very easy. Something to look forward to).
About this time a friend asked me to join him dungeoneering. We ran through a few floors and when I looked it was 1am. I've got some time off work so this wasn't a big deal. But I also saw that I had gotten enough crimsons for 99 summoning. (Blues are too pricey for me). So I spent some dungeoneering points and got to 96 Dungeoneering. All that was left was 4 trips to the summoning obelisk in Gu'tanoth (I needed to buy shards too) and I found myself with 99 Summoning and 2400 total levels.
About this time a friend asked me to join him dungeoneering. We ran through a few floors and when I looked it was 1am. I've got some time off work so this wasn't a big deal. December 13th 94 Cooking and 94 Thieving. Since then knocked out 94 Range (12/14), 95 Attack and Defence (12/16), 98 Herblore (12/16), 95 Strength (12/19), 94 Fishing (12/20) and then 95 Construction (12/21).
It's pretty much a ton of slayer during the week with some dungeoneering on weekends. While waiting for teams to form I do my bank standing skills. And play a little fish flinging with friends.
I've also been very disciplined about getting assists. Specifically, getting construction, smithing and runecrafting assists. I've even helped friends on occasion with herblore and crafting but I prefer to pass on those.
I was fortunate and made friends with a group of people who slay A LOT. That results in my getting about 4-6 requests a day for assists. Plus my friends and clan. I've been trying to hook people up with assisters which works out great for everyone involved.
I try to reset close to the same time everyday. If I don't have any friends who need an assist I hop over to w117 Daemonheim. I HIDE public (not turn it off) and then announce "Offering 91, 93 RC assist". The funny thing is, most people turn off their chat entirely. So you'll see someone offering 97 herblore standing next to a needing 97 herblore. Hence, hiding your chat lets you still see people chatting without spamming your chat box. Watch for people who care looking for what your offering. It rarely takes more then a few moments.

Flurry of end of month activity.
91 Fletching a couple days ago, then 75 Dungeoneering, then 92 Construction. Then today got to 91 Slayer.
Need hunter and fishing rocks this week but otherwise had the rest in 3 days. I'm ready to be done with the rock collecting, but 8 weeks isn't bad. And if I really don't like it I can put it down for awhile.
Haen't been fish flinging lately though and I kind of miss it. Been getting back into star chasing instead. Seems that my D&D's run in cycles.
Getting back into slayer and dungeoneering. Once rocks are done and I reach a few modest (within 1-2 level) levelling goals I'll be devoting a lot more time to those two skills. Got my first effigy after 13 slayer tasks (forgot what dropped it) and then 2 tasks later got another one.

91 Construction! And yes, I did it just so I could assist with construction effigies. I plan to upgrade to the gilded shelves so I can get +3 tea boosts. And I'll get another construction level this month (I think) which means I can assist up to 95 construction soon!
And yes, I am loving the effigies. I reset at about 10pm PST each night.

So Friday I was looking at my levels and realized....boy am I close to 2200 total levels. I had collected my rocks for the week and didn't know what I wanted to work on. It seems that any time I reach a major goal (quest cape, 2k total, 99) that I kind of lose my motivation for a week or so. Post bonus XP I ran into the same thing. So I was kind of poking around in my bank, looking at what I had on hand and trying to decide what I wanted to do. Hmmm. Didn't feel like working on any of the skills I needed to get rocks for. Just didn't seem like what I wanted to do. Didn't want go slay. Noticed I had a lot of planks. Like 10k or so. I could get a few levels with those. And I was only 20k away from a range level.
So I trekked up to the Stealing Creation person and filled up my bank with tools. (Since they don't stack it only took about 20 to fill up the bank). Then off to my house. Spent my time watching for stars and building oak larders.
Got 87, 88 and 89 Construction. And got bored. Really bored. Even mixing in some star chasing and doing it at 2x speed construction is zzzzzzzzzz.
Decided to pull out my cannon and go finish up my slayer task. Grabbed a pack yak. First time taking one slaying. Amazing!!! Stayed in the dungeon in Pollinveach for about 120 spectres. Ran out of cannonballs 4k xp and 17 spectres from being done. Decided to finish the task. (I will admit to being momentarily confused at the yaks autobanking since I thought it was random. Finally got that sorted out). I banked more herbs then I normally would of. Made a mess of my bank but worth it. Anyways, Kuradel was kind enough to give me blue dragons. Easy enough to range and get to 89 Range! So that put me at 2199.
Decided to push for 90 Construction. Another 90 would be nice and I still had a few more hammers to use up. I guessed at how many hammers I needed so I went ahead and gathered those. Then I started on mahoghany tables. I had about 1500 mahoghany and teak planks. Which are a lot lot faster then oaks. I was told that it's 500k xp an hour. Which means it should have taken me about an hour to get that level. Since Jax works at 1/2 the speed of everyone else 2 hours later I was finishing up with oak larders when I got it. 90 construction=2200 total.
Fortunately, the rocks reset an hour before I did this so I at least have something to work on for a few days before I start on my next goal. Whatever it ends up being.

I haven't leveled Construction in a long time, I get tears for it every week and I have tons of stealing creation hammers.
I've been working trying to work runecrafting at least every other day this month.
All the combat stuff is due to trying to get in one slayer task a week plus daily bork/jade vine etc.
So basically, what I"m saying is that I'm unfocused but every so often all those numbers get small enough that I can crank out a bunch of levels.

Worked slayer throughout the week. Got a dragon skirt and 2 dragon medium helmets. Funny, when I first started playing that would have made me rich. Now it's just a nice drop. On the other hand, I have equipment that's better then anything that existed when I started.
Anyways, got tired of the constant slaying and went to hunt penguins. Used the points on RC (one of the rare times I haven't used it on summoning) and hit 85 Runecrafting.
Then I visited Stealing Creation and picked up 5 hammers. Burned through them. The changes with the butler interface makes fro very very fast xp.

Yesterday got to 87 Hitpoints. Wasn't trying, just got the level.
Had to wait around for a friend so did smithing. Then I got serious and got out the SC hammers. 85 Smithing.
Wrapped up today with a lot of construction. Went flying past 84 Construction. Again, SC hammers. I got tired of banking so I took 5 with me to my house. Turned on Monday Night Football and just clicked clicked clicked. I'm going to guess that my next construction level will coincide with the next football game I watch.

This weekend I pushed hard to get a few levels that were near completion done.
Knocked out 86 Herblore, 83 Construction, 84 Smithing and 93 Woodcutting. So that ends the month at 2111.
The crazy thing about herblore....when I was starting I was in AWE of people who had 40 pots they could give me. Now I have a few thousand of nearly everything and try to pawn them off. It's really strange how perspectives change as you level.
The woodcutting was from evil trees. If I'm at the GE I check to see when the next will pop. If it's less than 15 minutes I'll check it out. And use up all my leprechaun magic.
Smithing was gold bars. I had a bunch from the stars I was chasing.
And I LOVE the construction update. So much less annoying.

Got to 82 Construction last night. Was going to just use tears for it but found myself at my house on my way to killing Bork with 10 minutes before Bork reset. So I talked my butler into doing a little work for me and got the level. That's 2091.
So I have a confession of sorts to make. About 3 months (?) ago I started playing with my private off or on friends. I've done it before in short bursts, mostly when questing or exploring a new area. I kind of had the view that if you're going to play a MMORPG you should probably learn to deal with the MMO part of it. Turning off chat as a matter of normal procedure struck me as something that wasn't "right". I mean, why play a MMO with chat off all the time? Just go play Fable or whatever.
Anyways, I purged my friends list and started turning off chat more and more. Turned off public for a bit too. Found that with public off the game got a little too strange for me. I can't really explain it. Had to tweak things a little to get it just right. And I have to be honest, I understand why people play with their chat off now. I'm a little saddened by it since in many ways it blocks interactions with people. On the other hand, I'm happier and more productive in game.
Last week I met a friend of mine for lunch. He plays a different game. We started talking about gaming in general and the 4 categories (explorer, socializer, achiever and something I forgot). He said that he felt that the problem with gaming is that you have to deal with people in game that you would never deal with in real life for class/geography/age reasons. I tend to agree with him on that.
My real life doesn't include many people who are younger then 20 something. Nor does it really include people outside my state. Nor does it have poor or rich people in it. I think that's part of the frustration that people feel in the game. You have to deal with people you dont' normally deal with. And there's friction there. I'm not saying that's bad. Just something that is sometimes tough to do.
On a seperate note, I was chatting with another friend of mine in game about having to deal with some of the folks we know in clans and in our home world. He mentioned that he considered himself part of the "Silent Seethers". He's a happy easy going guy who just wants to play, have fun, laugh and hang out with friends. But as we talked about it I completely understood his point about the Seethers. And in many ways I think we (I consider myself one) are part of Runescape's silent majority.
Who are the seethers? (Yes, I should make a new blog post now but I'm lazy so just endure silently). I think we're like Nixon's old Silent Majority. We don't rant on the forums, you don't see us yelling in banks threatening to riot, we don't call people noobs. We pretty much don't talk a lot in public in fact. We just want to play. Play!! Not work at it but play. And not be harangued, followed, yelled at, demanded attention from, or drug into any kind of one up manship contest. Most of us are willing to help people with answers to questions and directions. But we get a little irritate when those turn into demands.
And here's my monthly rant, many of which I think are things that are silent problems in RS.
1) People saying "I'm bored." Uhm..it's a game. If you're bored then go do something else. No, not in Runescape. I mean something ELSE. There's this big room with a giant glowing orb in it. It's called the outside.
2) People who ask something like "How do I make glass." So you start explaining how to make glass. And then they say "oh, i can't be bothered".
3) People who ask things like "How long does 99take". Uhm....here's a hint. Do something for an hour. Figure out your hourly xp. Divide it into the amount of xp you need for 99.
4) Snitches. Sorry but I disagree with Jagex's old way of making mods. Snitch and you get to be a mod. Sorry but it's not fun to play a game where those with "power" are all the hall monitors. Their new way, inviting folks who are building community, I think makes more sense towards being a healthy community. Adding folks who have shown they can organize and lead people in a reasonable manner sounds a lot better.
5) Buy my stuff/Sell me stuff at a discount. The fastest way off my friends list is asking me to buy your junk because you need money. The second fastest is to buy something from me and expect a discount. Yes, I do discount things to my friends. Sometimes. Sometimes I'm in money making mode and need cash.
6) Ooh look at me look at me. Yes, great. Nice levels, grats on your 99. Now move on please.
7) People for whom everything is about the gp. I laughed yesterday when someone was complaining that they "lost" 700k getting 2 herblore levels. Uhm, no. It cost you 700k for x-amount of xp. It's not lost, it's spent. Lost is when you die and your stuff disintegrates.
8) Last one for this month. Ask advice. Don't take it. Decide to do something like going to a slayer task without the proper equipment. (Note, I'm not saying to buy full dragon here. I'm talking about taking an anti fire to dragon tasks and such). Die. Yell to get your grave blessed. Especially since if you have a 5 minute timer on your grave you should be able to get back there before anyone else.
9) Ok a bonus item this month. Be unprepared. Make it my problem. Great example, decide that you want to rc via the abyss. You own one glory. Use it up . Yell until someone trades you a charge for an uncharged. Use it up. Complain that you are too poor to buy more than one glory.

Time to pin back my ears and charge for 2k total levels.
First up, got Construction 81. Used up one of my 100k thingies froom While Guthix Sleeps plus some planks I had in my bank.
My goal continues to be raise every skill by one level in November/December. I have 12 levels left for that. Then 9 more levels of other random skills.

On the 22nd I got 80 Construction. Realized I had plenty of ores to level smithing so I just went all out on oak larders.
Today, got to 80 Smithing. Also, have a ton of mithril bolts :D.
So that concludes the goal I set out at the beginning of my 2nd year (with 8 days left). All skills are at 80. I don't include summoning because summoning wasn't out at the time.
Now, having said that, I worked a bit on summoning today. I had a made a bunch of different pouches to experiment with summoning. Cashed in a lot of them today along with 100k. And what did that get me? About 20k summoning. This is going to cost a fortune.
Here's a trick I learned though: Using a spirit terrorbird I take out everything I need to make pouches plus 5 pouches or scrolls to trade in. I make the pouches and cash in what I want. That opens up 5 spots which allows for easier swapping out with the terrorbird. Plus, it provides me some of the shards I need.
Also, found all my penguins.

So that concludes the goal I set out at the beginning of my 2nd year (with 8 days left). All skills are at 80. I don't include summoning because summoning wasn't out at the time.
Now, having said that, I worked a bit on summoning today. I had a made a bunch of different pouches to experiment with summoning. Cashed in a lot of them today along with 100k. And what did that get me? About 20k summoning. This is going to cost a fortune.
Here's a trick I learned though: Using a spirit terrorbird I take out everything I need to make pouches plus 5 pouches or scrolls to trade in. I make the pouches and cash in what I want. That opens up 5 spots which allows for easier swapping out with the terrorbird. Plus, it provides me some of the shards I need.
Also, found all my penguins.

Been busy traveling the last few days. So a little RS time (I love that I can get wireless anywhere. Makes up a little for being stuck in an airport).
Hit 71 Summoning and 79 Construction. Two more levels til I reach one of my goals.
I've been smithing my mithril into bolts and then finishing them and selling them to buy planks. Finally have enough planks. Going to go ahead and finish with all my ores. Then mithril armorstands til 80 smithing then I'll go for the oak larders for some speed.
I'd really love to end my second year ranked in the top 20k. I need 1950 for that. (At the start of the month it was 1948). So I'm going to guess by the end of the month I'll need 1952. That's what I'm aiming for at least.

Been steadily chipping away at my levels. Now that I don't really have any easy levels they are taking a lot longer.
I have extra time today since so I got to 78 Construction. Superheated about 1k mithril ore and got to 85 Magic plus a good chunk of smithing xp. Then smithed all those bars I made and ended up at 79 Smithing.
For construction I've been doing a mixture of mithril armorstands and oak larders. Mithril gets me smithing and construction xp and is cheaper but sooooo slow. Larders are faster but will end up costing me more.
Had an unusually bad tree run. Was just growing bananas, apples, willows and oaks. Had more dead trees then live trees. Need over 700k for my next farming level.

Busy weekend! Focused on ZMI runecrafting. I actually meet some pretty nice people on Moonclan Isle so it was an interesting way to pass the time, chatting and runecrafting.
What worked for me was to summon an abyssal lurker and craft full speed for the 44 minutes it was out. Then do something else (tree run, herb run, summoning run, burn a couple rows of logs etc) or log out and do something. Then come back, summon another lurker and go again. I tried to do 1 lurker an hour. Getting close to 80.
Hit 70 Summoning on one of those runs. Did Tears of Guthix too and got 122 tears.
After my fifth lurker on Sunday I was a bit bored with it and decided to start chipping away at construction (and consequently smithing since I'm building mithril armor stands). Pretty pleased with the results as I got to 77 Construction. 1939 total.
Still chipping away at Farming. Need about 120k more. Checked my kingdom and I think I have just enough trees to get there this week. If not it'll be awfully close.

Spent 1 million GP on shards. Finally got to make Bunyip pouches. Don't plan on training slayer anytime soon but thought it would be a good idea. That 1 million gp got me to....68 slayer....about 3k away from 69. Wow is summoning going to be expensive. Got a lamp or two and some more gold charms from Bork. Got myself to 69 Summoning to tie up the month.
Two days earlier I got to 76 Construction and 78 Smithing. Built mithril armor stands, a lot of them, and got the two levels. These are really really slow since you only use two boards at a time. On the other hand, considering that these are already two slow expensive skills, I'll take the trade off and keep doing the armor stands.
Ended the month at 1935.

July 27: Used up all the gold ore in my bank and hit 74 Smithing. Now that's a boring skill. What was good though was I was able to catch up on some back reading.
July 28: Messed around and did a bunch of things. Some mining, some farming etc. Even worked on some smithing. Nearly broke so I alched about 250 air battlestaffs (apparently all my money was sitting in my staffs.)
July 29: Did the new quest. Hate the speed clicking quests. I ended up having to make a lot more pouches then I should have. The upside being that I got 64 Summoning. If you do the Spirit of Summer don't forget to go pick up the extra xp available via various portals in the wildy.
July 30: After the quest I realized I was less then 10k from 75 Construction. Used up nearly all my planks (oak, teak, mahoghany) making a random variety of items. Ding! Another level :D Smelted about 1k mithril bars and used those in combination with all my mithril, steel and addy bars to get to 75 Smithing. Now I guess it's time to get back to mining.
Just 2 more little levels to getting everything but summoning up to 75. Really hoping to get it by tomorrow.

Was up all night so logged in to Runescape in the hopes that something would bore me to sleep. So of course I did construction. Didn't fall asleep but did get to 74 Construction. Since I was kind of out of it I just did oak larders.
I'd love to get all my skills (but summoning) to 75 this month. Would also love to get both 91 and 92 farming in August which means I need to get as much farming xp as I can with what remains of July (I may be able to make it to 91 this month. I need about 350k experience but I've got nothing but oaks and apple trees to plant. My kingdom is going to have to be very very good to me tonight for me to get that much xp.)
