Hunting for cash

It seems that if you are in a clan chat or in a populated area for any period of time during the day you will be asked: How can I make money?
It seems that often the standard answers are along the lines of: flax, dragons, fishing, woodcutting etc.
I’ve been testing and I’ve found that the best skill for making money from levels 1-?? is hunter. It’s better then runecrafting, woodcutting, fishing, you name it for at least the first 60-70 levels.
If I was starting out Hunting and wanted to optimize my income here’s what it would look like:

As you can see, you can average nearly 150k an hour while getting good xp.

Couple of notes:
For the kyatt/graahk/larupia I assumed that half the furs would be tatty and half would be regular.

If you want to optimize your cash I’d just do polar kebbits from 1-40 then a few quests. It would take maybe 10 hours to get to 40 and you’d have around 1million xp waiting for you. I added in the Larupia in case you got bored with kebbits and wanted to pick up some speed.
Gloves of silence are made with 2 dark kebbit furs and 600 gp at the Varrock clothier. You would make more money making the gloves for people and selling them then just selling the furs.

Firemaking 91 last night and Firemaking 92 today. Fire adze time!!

My friend James sent me his method of doing it a while back. I made a few changes and here's how I did my run.

Used this as a reference: Adze for what to bring to fix each beacon etc. I won't list these all out.

I used maple logs all the way. Dipped in the Oo'log run pool also. If you are going to be fixing the beacons then don't bother with a Terrorbird, at least for the first half. On the filling run you'll want a glory and a dueling ring so that you can reload quickly.

Numbers in (parentheses) are the corresponding beacon on the runehq guide.

Needed to transport:
1 Games Necklace
3-4 Glories
Dueling Ring
2 Trollheim Teles
Goblin Sphere (2 laws, 1 molten glass get it in dorgeshkaan)
Combat bracelet.

1) Tele to Trollheim and head to GWD. NE of GWD entrance. (Need a super restore) You'll want to take a little food with you. (12)

2) Tele to Trollheim. Run east and down the agility shortcut. (11)

3) Games necklace to bounty hunter then north through the fence to (14 and 13). If you've already fixed these then I'd get out a terrorbird and fill it up so you can carry at total of 40 logs and hit both these spots.

4) Combat bracelet to monastery, fill the beacon at Black Knights (7) and then run to level 13 Wildy (10).

5) Games necklace to Burthrope, head NE (9).

6) Goblin Sphere to goblin village (8)

6) Then back to Edgeville for (6). Run to GE for (5)

7) Then Varrock and the Lumberyard. (4&3)

8) Now, if you want to make this a little quicker just chop down 40 oaks outside the lumberyard. Otherwise bank in Varrock and then run to (2) and (1)

Maples last 14:45 seconds, oaks are 12:45 Even regular logs would work as they are ten minutes.

Lighting run:

1 Games Necklace
1 Glory
2 Trollheim Teles
Goblin Sphere (2 laws, 1 molten glass get it in dorgeshkaan)
Combat bracelet.
Tinder Box
Couple of swords or lobsters
3 dose super restore

1) Tele to Trollheim and head to GWD. NE of GWD entrance. (Need a super restore) You'll want to take a little food with you. (12)

2) Tele to Trollheim. Run east and down the agility shortcut. (11)

3) Games necklace to bounty hunter then run to level 13 Wildy (10) then north through the fence to (14 and 13). Then run to either the mage arena bank or back to level 20 Wildy to teleport.

4) Games necklace to Burthrope, head NE (9).

5) Goblin Sphere to goblin village (8)

6) Combat bracelet to monastery, fill the beacon at Black Knights (7)

7) Then Glory to Edgeville for (6). Run to GE for (5)

8) Then Varrock and the Lumberyard, Rag and Bone then the first spot and you're done. (4-1)

I did the whole thing in 9 minutes. Which is plenty of time. Don't skimp on the super energies. You don't know when you're going to run out of Oo'log pool help or when you're terrorbird will leave. Make it easy on yourself.

Guide to Useful Agility

I’ve written this with the benefit of hindsight. This is by no means a guide to getting 99 or anything like that. Mostly this is aimed towards people who want to get a quest cape or at least a lot of quest points and want to be able to use most of the shortcuts.

Why Train Agility:

There are 3 reasons that I can think of to train agility:
1) Quests and diaries (need 60 for the cape)
2) Shortcuts (85 for the highest, 80 for all the really useful ones)
3) Ability to run for long periods of time

Of course you could go for the cape. But this is about helping people get to 60 or maybe 80.

Everything is open to you after that. Continuing training beyond will allow you to run for longer periods of time but won’t really affect your abilities in other areas.

At a minimum I’d recommend everyone get to 50 agility for the run replenishment. If you want to be a serious slayer I would suggest 71 for the spiked chain in the slayer tower.

Useful Items:

Explorer Ring-You get this from the Lumbridge diary. It’ll replenish part of your energy 3x a day. Very useful since it’s basically a free daily super energy pot.

Boots of Lightness, Penance Gloves, Spotted/Spottier cape-Honestly I rarely use these. At least not when training agility. If you’re training agility don’t be carrying around a ton of stuff. It’s that simple. If you want to wear them feel free but you’re just as well off not carrying tons of stuff.

Spirit Terrorbirds-Use the tireless run scrolls to replenish energy. May not be usable on all courses. Cheaper then pots and no weight.

Energy/Super Energy Pots-Allows you to run longer thus train faster. Use them if you have them. Energy pots are pretty easy to make, I’d suggest using these if you want to save money.

Prayer-No don’t use prayer pots. But if you’re somewhere you’re going to take damage turn on the rapid heal prayer when you are low. Most agility training causes you to lose a percentage of your health, lower the health less HP you lose. So you don’t want to be at full health. However, you may want to replenish some health. Cheap, easy, light. Three good things.

Bracelet of Regeneration-Expensive. Restores hp faster but I personally think it’s overkill.

Methods of Training:

There are two methods of training, running in circles and everything else. Some people prefer one to the other. I’d suggest you spend at least 1 hour at each of these to get a feel for what you like. In fact, I recommend that if you are going to train agility to do one task for one hour. At first it may feel odd since you aren’t used to how things are set up for the course/activity. But then you get a rhythm going. Don’t quit! Take advantage of it, most of my xp is after the first 30 minutes of training once I get used to it.

Running in Circles:

Gnome Stronghold:
86 xp per lap
Starting Level: 1
Recommended Level 1:

Agility Pyramid:
1014 per lap
Starting Level:30
Recommended Level:40
Take water skins and run up this pyramid. I’d suggest it at 40 since you won’t fail as much. Grab the golden pyramid at the top and turn it in for cash. Approx 2.5 mins per lap. Not the fastest xp but I find this course very enjoyable.

Penguin Course:
540 per lap
Starting Level: 30
Recommended Level:35 or so
Must do Cold War and be dressed as a penguin. Fun course, pretty to look at. Xp per hour isn’t bad for this level.

Barbarian Outpost:
152 per lap
Starting Level: 35
Recommended Level: 35
Must complete the barcrawl. This is a Relleka diary task also. I much prefer both the pyramid and penguin courses at this level.

Ape Atoll:
580 per lap
Starting Level: 48
Recommended Level: 60
Must have started Monkey Madness and gotten a greegree. Much better to finish it and get the teleport to Ape Atoll too. If you want to train in a group W46 always has monkeys in it. You stop failing it at 75. However, around 60 or so you’ll stop failing it enough for it to make sense to train here. Take a knife, there’s a pineapple spawn that you can use for food. If you point your compass “N” to the lower left of your compass dial and make some camera angle adjustments you can leave it there the whole time you’re training. This will save you time and motion. I’ve heard rumors of 55k an hour but I average closer to 45k.

Wildnerness:
571per lap
Starting Level: 52 (49 with pot)
Recommended Level: 52 or more
I hated it with Pk’ers and barely like it more with revs. If you go take 3 items. Use the Ardougne wilderness teleport. Very popular however and if you can find a world with a lot of people it makes it easier.

Werewolf:
540 per lap
Starting Level: 60
Recommended Level: 60
Need a Ring of Charos from Creature of Fenkenstrain. I like this one a lot. Can only fail the death slide and sometime in my mid 70’s I quit failing it. Remember to pick up the stick and return it to the werewolf for the lap bonus. Fairly close to Canifis for banking. I like doing it with some Skullball mixed in to break up long training sessions.

Dorgesh-Kaan
2750 per lap
Starting Level: 70
Recommended Level: 80
Wear a mining helmet. Requires Death to the Dorgeshkaan. Fairy ring code is AJQ or you can get there by walking through the city of Dorgesh-Kaan. Talk to Turgal and he tells you what to bring him. I’d suggest doing this for agility and not the range part of it. Use the spanner on the console to get a cog, powerbox or lever. This can be failed at all levels. At around level 78 I started getting more xp/hour here then at Ape. I put the item I’m supposed to get in my ignore box to remember.

Non Running In Circle Methods:

Mice: 3xp each time you catch one. Buy or make a clockwork mouse. Find the smallest room you can. If you like lots and lots of clicking this is for you.

Gnomeball: In the NW corner of the Gnome Stronghold. I can’t do this for long but if you like it it’s not a bad way to train at lower levels.

Blast Furnace: Get on the bike and ride. Drains your energy pretty fast and doesn’t give a ton of xp. However, thought I’d mention it.

Rogue’s Den: Requires 50 thieving and 50 agility. Run the maze and at the end you might get a piece of rogue armor or a rogue kit. XP isn’t bad, the maze is kind of fun and it’s a break from the usual training methods. Not sure what to do with the Rogue Armor other then put it in my house. Makes for a fun event to do with a group of people.

Skullball: I know people who love it. Personally not my thing. Try to kick a ball soccer style through a werewolf course of wickets. (It’ll make more sense when you try it). You can get 750 xp in 4 mins which makes it the fastest training from 25 to about 48, if you can stand it.

Brimhaven Agility Arena: Wear Karamja Gloves from the Diary and get 10% bonus on every obstacle and on your ticket cash in. I’d recommend saving up to 1,000 tickets. Level 40 obstacles are pretty easy after level 50. This is another one of those fun activities. Each pillar has a ticket dispenser. You have to tag the dispenser and get the ticket before it changes. If you cash in 1000 tickets at a time you’re making about 350xp a minute. Wear monk robes as they are lightweight and will make your prayer last longer. Pray rapid heal when you are down to about 10hp. Failing the level 40 traps will cause you to temporarily lose agility levels. I’d recommend taking an agility pot or two if you are close to 40.

Shortcuts: They are marked by the green arrows. Most of them give a small amount of agility xp. Mostly so small it’s not worth noting.

Circus: This is a must do for agility!!! I can get about 8k a week. Starting out I think a more realistic number might be 4k a week. That's still one or two levels for 2 minutes of work. Go to a bank and look for a barker (they aren't at every bank but still). Find out where the circus is. Do each agility action one time. Take an agility pot if you want.

Lamps/Books/Quest Rewards: I wouldn’t use lamps/books or other things like that on Agility. It’s free and it’s relatively fast. There are more expensive harder skills to use that (summoning, herblore, construction).

Training Plan:
This plan is what I would do now if I had to do it again. Actually, if I had to do it again I’d quit but that’s a different issue.

Levels 1-24 Gnome Stronghold, 73 laps. Should take about an hour and never go there again. At 24 go to the circus and do each agility action one time. You should have success with at least 3 which should help you along.

Level 24 Recruitment Drive (1k agility xp)

Level 25-44 Grand Tree Quest, Kennith’s Concern, Fremmenik Trial, Troll Romance, Cold War, Icthlarin’s Little Helper , Land of the Golbins, Royal Trouble, Cabin Fever(I’d do Grand Tree first then do the rest according to what my other skill levels are.)

Level 44-48 Skullball, Agility Pyramid, Penguin Course, Brimhaven, Barbarian Outpost. Spend an hour at each (probably starting at Barbarian and working your way to the beginning of the list). I’d say the fastest at this level are Skullball and Agility Pyramid depending on your preference. You’ll need 33k xp for these 4 levels. Plan on 3-4 hours here.

Level 48 RFD-Saving Awwogai
If you want to stop here you’re in good shape. You’re close to 50 agility and have a good run replenishment rate.

You should have only spent 4 hours training agility in addition to the quests. None of those quests are that long and have other benefits other then just the agility.

If you don't want to do the quests I'd substitute skullball, barbarian and agility pyramid here. At 45 the Agility Arena at Brimhaven becomes a decent choice.

If you want to continue on I’d suggest:

Level 48-52-Skullball, Agility Pyramid, Brimhaven. Check out Ape Atoll here if you want. You’ll need 40k here, so plan on about 3-4 hours.

Level 52-55: Wildy Arena. 43k. Shouldn’t take you more then 2 hours. Might want to get your Rogue Armor in the Rogue's Den around here too. Get to 50 thieving first though.

Level 55-57: Legacy of Seergaze, Defender of Varrock, Myths of the While Lands, Darkness of Hallowvale, Back to My Roots

Level 57-60: Wildy and Ape Atoll. Take your pick

Level 60 Grim Tales, Rocking Out and Mourning’s End II

Level 61-71: This'll let you use the Spiken Chain in the Slayer Tower. You'll need about 500k here. Ape Atoll, Wildy, Werewolf will all get you there in about 12 hours. Well worth training to at least this point.

This training plan will minimize your time on the low level courses and get you to the high payoff areas sooner.

December 10, 2008

81 Strength. 10th straight day with a level I think. Not much to report. Just did my usual stuff.

So now I have a rant and some tips. I'm standing in Edge making some pots, waiting for my run to restore and trying to decide if I wanted to firemake or smith. Anyways, I'm making pots and:

Random Guy: Jaxana
Me: Yes?
Random Guy: Got any irits?
Me: Some, why?
Random Guy: Can I buy 400.
Me: No
Random Guy: I need for quest.
Me: You need 400 irits for a quest
Random Guy: Yes
Me: Go buy at GE.
Random Guy: Give me

And on it went. Until I ignored him. I don't understand why people think I should give away stuff I worked hard to put together. I don't mind giving someone a pot or food or something if they are working on a quest. But I'm not giving people free supplies. Not unless they are a friend. I've had friends help me out and I've tried to return the favor as much as possible. But a totally random person? Nope.

It seems to me that some people resent others for having more then them (cash, level, irits, whatever) and feel that they have a right to get a cut of their stuff. I worked hard for what I have. I've made plenty of mistakes, lost plenty of cash. I've put in my time to get my levels. I am not lucky, I worked for what I have. And yes, I do share with my friends. But I am not in the business of selling supplies in random banks. And I'm not interested in supplying everyone who is too lazy to go to the GE with hundreds of an item.

Having said that here's my mini guide on herb gathering:

1) Kill things. This is the answer for almost all resource gathering questions and herbs are no different. I've liked various stronghold of security creatures for this but there's plenty of guides out there if you google herblore and runescape.

2) Farm them. This is my preferred method. It takes 90 minutes to get 7 herbs per patch, or 35 for a rull round of farming. Seeds are cheap relative to herbs.

3) Steal them from the Sorceress Garden. I find this frustrating. I know people who like it.

4) Salarin the Twisted. If you have a decent (50+) mage level this should be easy. Go to the Yanille Agility dungeon with a stack of strike spells. Head SEish until you come to a pile of rubble. Climb it and go to the end. Kill Salarin. There's a safe spot but he doesn't really hit that hard. While you wait for him to respawn kill a couple chaos druids, they drop herb supplies too. Once you get 3 keys (probably 6-9 Salarin's), bank. Return with just the 3 keys. Shortly after you enter you'll see a pipe to the west. Go through and use the keys on the chest. You'll get 9 decent herbs. 3 keys=27 herbs. The chest poisons you so quickly use up your keys and bank and swig an antipoison.

5) Buy them. There is no way to make money making pots while buying all the supplies. If you want to lose money then I would suggest energy pots. Go over to the Culimancer's chest or Gnome Stronghold Bar and buy a bunch of chocolate bars. Grind them up and make pots with Harralanders.

6) Serum 207.Super slow, but profitable. Get some tarromin and ashes. Go to Mort'ton. Use it on the afflicted. They will give you cash and tarromin. Take an axe and tinderbox. Burn. Get ashes. You can stay there almost forever as you will always get more tarromin then you can use.this a lot. I think it comes down to the way you play. Definately check it out though.

Normal People Farming Part 3

FEEDBACK IS WELCOME. **Original table I miscalculated a few things. New Table added**

Yesterday and today's posts are dedicated to all the people who've bugged me with the what question. And the where. And the how. If you have further quetsions post them in the comments. There will probably be another version of this in the future.

If you search the last month's worth of posts you'll see my farming table. Nothing really exciting and nothing that you can't find 100 other places.

But none answer the WHAT to farm question. So I created a new table. You'll have to click on it to make it readable.

If you don't read to read further here's the spoiler: Avantoe and Cadantine.

Now for those of you who want a more developed answer here we go:

1) At the bottom of the payment where column is the key. It should help you figure out the best way to get payments for your crops. Someone asked for it and there it is.

2) There's notes at the bottom of the picture. In brief just know that the cost per planting is the per seed cost times the number of seeds needed to plant the crop 1x.

3)Cost/XP*100. I multiplied it times 100 because other there would be too many ugly decimal places to manage. Basically it's the cost of planting something divided by the amount of xp you get. The lower the number the better the value. Median is 102. So, those items highlighted in red are in the lower half of the costing. For those of you who didn't listen to me and are buying seeds, this is what matters to you. (Any number greater then 100 means you are paying more then 1 gp per experience point.)

4) XP/Minute. Took the total planting XP column and divided by the time it takes to grow. This is NOT a calculation for how much xp you get for each minute you farm. This is a calculation of how much XP you get for keeping a farming patch occupied with that particular crop/tree/bush/whatever. Those items in Yellow are the ones that provide a return on a per minute basis higher then the median.

So why is my answer Avantoe and Cadantine. Each cost less then 1gp per experience point. Both give good xp per minute that they are growing.

Keep in mind I assumed you'd get 8 vegetables or 8 herbs per harvest. What that means is everything has to be supercomposted, you use magic sectauers and that you plant things that are 8-10 levels below your current level.

Jax’s Guide to Farming for Normal People Part 1 and 2

If you have tons of money to throw at farming here's my guide:

Buy the best tree/fruit tree seeds you can and plant them.
Ok….now that the rich people are out of the way here's the guide for the rest of us.

To start with, what do I mean by "Normal People"? I mean people who don't have tons of money, or time and who aren't really going for 99. They want to get to 60 for questing purposes or 62 to grow their own snapdragon seeds. And you don't want to spend all day staring at your crops.
Here are the goals of this guide:

  1. Help you get the level you want.
  2. Provide you a few "I didn't know that! Cool!" moments.
  3. Keep you farming at 15 minutes a day or LESS! While still making GOOD progress toward your goal. (You can farm more to go faster obviously).

The first part of this guide is general advice to do with farming along with some hints and tips. The second part of this guide will be data on how to get from one set of levels to another etc. I also have an updated table to add later with more useful information.

Section 1 Hints and Advice

  1. Super compost is your best friend.

    1. What can go into super compost? All fruits over pineapple, all tree roots, used coconut shells, some high level berries and herbs.
    2. What SHOULD go into super compost? Pineapples, coconut shells (never NEVER coconuts whole) and oak/willow/maple roots.
    3. Why not yew or magic roots? Why only shells and not whole coconuts? Yew and magic roots are useful in herb lore. They are worth enough to either save for when you have the herb lore level that you can use them or sell on GE. Plus, you can make Amulets of Nature with mage roots. Coconuts are needed to pay for magic trees. In addition, you can use a coconut with a hammer and empty vial. You can use that coconut milk to make a potion or sell it on the GE AND then use the shell to make compost. (See how that works? Get a little cash plus your compost).
    4. You'll be in Catherby everyday checking on your fruit tree and planting your allotment. Talk to Arhein by the docks and buy 80 pineapples. You need them for farmer payments, you need them for super compost, heck you can even sell them on the GE for about 100x what you pay Arhein for them. And don't forget, pineapples are free for the picking in Brimhaven.
    5. If you are just starting out regular compost is fine.
  2. There are other ways to get farming xp.

    1. Sorceress Garden. Depending which garden you use you get xp for each squirk you pick or herb you steal. (summer=60, spring=40). I don't especially like this mingame. However, if you wanted to work thieving with farming this isn't a bad choice. Regular farming, however, is better.
    2. Vinesweeper. This has just been released. Any leprechaun can teleport you into the mini-game. It's a lot like minesweeper, I'd suggest reading the KB if you are really interested. It looks to be about 1xp=6pts. Not a fast way to obtain seeds or xp. I suppose if I were hard core farming I could do this between runs but it's really not that great. (I think it could be great if you got a big team together but that's a different guide.)
    3. Jade Vine. As a reward for the Back to My Roots quest you can play this mini-game (mini-mini game?) You get 1500 farming xp for checking the health of the Jade Vine and 2500 Slayer xp. Personally, I do this every day. It takes about 4 hours from the time the vine is checked for it to go wild. This is very fast. You can check it as you go through Ardy on your way to Brimhaven. The xp is between a willow seed and banana seed BUT it's free! I always use super compost and only lose one seed a month. And it's good slayer xp for the amount of time it takes.
  3. What to wear.

    1. Boots of Lightness. You will be running. Don't ask for an explanation. Not required but nice to have.
    2. Ava's Accumulator. No no no…not a spotted/spottier/polkie dottie cap thing. It's not worth it to me. The boots put me below weight anyways. I would rather have the free arrows. And other metal stuff. If you can't wear an accumulator yet then sure, go ahead with a spotted cape or whatever.
    3. Anything else you want. The idea is to travel light. So put away the armor and put on a "fun" outfit. I would wear a teleport device of some sort (glory, dueling ring etc) in case you get mixed up and need to hit a bank fast.
  4. How to get seeds. If you are starting out I'd say B, C, A are your best bets. And never ever throw away seeds! Ever. Hear me?!

    1. Steal them from Marty (or any other master farmer). Marty is in Draynor. Another master farmer can be found near the farmhouse north of Ardougne. And one is N of Lumbridge. If you don't have the thieving levels you can probably still get seeds on a busy server. Lots of people steal from them and drop the lower level seeds. If you are just starting out this is a good way to get your starting bunch. I see it more in Ardy then anywhere but it's up to you. If you are going to thieve and only want certain seed there's a trick. Put one of each kind of seed you want in your inventory. Fill up the rest of your inventory with other junk. When you pickpocket the farmer the seeds that aren't in your pack will fall on the ground automatically. The seeds that you want will stack in your inventory.
    2. Kill things. Highly effective. Mainly for allotment and herb seeds. I'll go out on a limb and say I don't think anything drops seeds other then allotment and herb seeds. Leave me a comment if I'm wrong.
    3. Woodcutting. Chop down trees. Get bird's nests. Check nest for tree seeds. Sell nest, keep seed. Or keep nest. Point is this is a way to get seeds. Not really fast. But something to keep in mind.
    4. Kingdom of Misc. If you have your people set to collect maples, teaks, mahogany, flax or herbs you will get seeds. I do maples and flax. I collect 1x a week. This yields me 34 tree seeds and 7 herb seeds (on average). You can sell the flax and maples to fund your kingdom (currently I'm running a 15% profit from this) and plant the seeds.
    5. Buy them. Don't think this takes much explanation. I try not to buy seeds as I have better uses for my money. You probably do too. I'll touch on this more later.
    6. Vinesweeper mini game. Not worth the time. Unless you're on a really good team. Maybe then. Doubt it.
    7. White Tree in Varrock. You have to do the Garden of Tranquility quest. You can pick fruit off the white tree in Varrock. The fruit recharges your energy. Is it really worth doing? Depends. It's near but not convenient to the tree patch in Varrock (try it you'll see what I mean). I've picked a bunch to help when I do agility.
  5. Buckets are your friend too.

    1. Spawns. Al Kharid in one of the tents. Just south of Ardy Zoo near the well. Various other locations.
    2. Buy them from any farming store.
    3. Bert. Get sand (80) a day from Bert. As you make more and more glass you will have more and more buckets.
  6. Pick up everything you can at a farming patch. Why? Because you never know when they will be useful. Because almost everything can be used to pay for something else. Because you'll be banking regularly anyways.
  7. An organized bank is key. I keep my farming "gear" (pots, watering can, baskets sacks) together with seeds organized by type right next to them. You can do whatever you want. I also keep one of every herb seed in my bank so I don't have to go looking for them.
  8. Paying the farmer. I try to pay the farmer for anything I plant that's within 10 levels of my current level. After that if I have the payment I use it. Otherwise I super compost it.
  9. Patience is a virtue. For trees and fruit trees (and things you have payments for) plant them as soon as you get the level. For bushes, herbs, allotments etc I'd wait to be the appropriate level +1 (Ignore this if you are less then level 10). You'll get more crops and more xp.
  10. Only talk to the Leprechaun 1x per trip. You can waste a lot of time trading stuff with the leprechaun. At the beginning of each farming round withdraw everything you need. Unless you are making compost or need to stash buckets leave the leprechaun alone until the end.
  11. Quests. I've put quests that require farming xp in the appropriate sections. Three other quests that will help you are listed below. I encourage everyone to do these regardless of their goal as they have benefits to skills other then farming.

    1. Ghosts Ahoy-Ectophial puts you close to a patch.
    2. Tree Gnome Village-Spirit Trees are great especially after level 30 Farming.
    3. Kingdom of Miscellanea and Royal Trouble. Best source of seeds. Do Royal Trouble to lower your costs.
  12. Summoning. Compost mound adds 2 to your total skill at 50+. I'll add more as I learn more later.
  13. Payments to farmers. Yes. Do it.

    1. You can also pay farmers 200gp to cut down your trees. I'm not a fan of this but there you have it.
    2. You can note your payments. Very helpful when you start doing tree runs.
  14. Amulet of Nature. I rarely use mine. Choice is yours. I am a farm it and forget it type.

Section 2 Getting Started
First stop off at any farming store (near the allotments) and purchase the following:
1 Rake
1 Secateurs
1 Spade
1 Seed Dibber
1 Trowel
1 Watering Can
31 Buckets
Sacks
Baskets
Starting out: (Levels 1-14) Put 15 items in a compost bin. Leave it alone for 2 hours. Come back with 15 buckets and 15 more compost and make more compost. Go ahead and rake the allotments/herb/flower patches. If you feel like it go ahead and plant all the patches. Woodcut or fish nearby if you didn't use compost. If you did, well, wander off.
What to farm:
Always Plant: Go from potato to onions to cabbage. Each takes 40 minutes to grow. These seeds are easy to get from either master farmers, GE or monsters.
(I'd skip Marigolds as the prices for those seeds are ridiculous now.)
Hops are good at this level. Barley, Hammerstone, Asgarnian seeds.
Add in guam and redberry bushes at level 10. These are cheap, fast xp.
Where to farm:
If you are just starting out (RS I mean, not farming) I suggest the farm just south of Falador.
Use the hops patch across from Lumbridge.
Just north of the hops patch is a bush patch.
If you have access to Catherby then I'd suggest using both Catherby and Ardougne North. Just run between them.
Hops patch just north of Seer's village
Bush patch just south of Ardougne.
15 Minutes: Take one trip a day and hit your allotment/hops/bush patches.
Speedy: Set your timer and every 70 minutes go hit your patches again.
Quests to do at this level: None.

Ranarr: Level 15-32
What to Farm: Keep doing what you were doing to get to 15. Allotments, herb, bushes, hops, flowers. If all you have are potato seeds and guam I'd still plant them. By now you should be getting close to 100 xp per guam/potato planting. That's still worth it. And very cheap. Oaks are your friends in this range. In fact, if you are training some other skill near a tree patch set your timer. After 2.5 hours or so you can check health and plant another oak to add a little training boost.
Where to farm: Start in Taverly(tree), tele to Falador (tree and allotment), home tele to Lumbridge(tree). Run across the river and hit the hops and bush patches on the way to Varrock (oak). Then go do something else. (This could take you more then 15 minutes, my apologies. You could bypass the bushes and hops if you wanted and tele from Lumbridge to Varrock. But at this level the bushes and hops would be useful).

15 Minutes: Taverly, Falador, Lumbridge, tele to Varrock.
Speedy: (see the where to farm section). Every 70 minutes check your hops and allotment. Every 2.5 hours rerun the whole route.
Quests to do at this level:
Any level-RFD Dwarf-1,000 Farming (requires a lot of other skills however)
Any level-Fairy Tale Pt 1-Magic Sectauers-3,500 Farming
17 Farming-Forgettable Tale-5,000 Farming
25 Farming-Garden of Tranquility-Seeds-5,000 Farming
29 Farming-My Arm's Big Adventure-Disease free herb patch-5,000 Farming (a MUST if you are going to be any kind of serious herb farmer)
30 Farming-Enlightened Journey-Hot Air Balloons-3,000 Farming
Spirit Tree: Level 32-81
What to Farm: Herbs, bushes, trees, fruit trees, specials.

1) Calquats are GREAT once you get to level 72. Cheap and easy.
2) I'd say you must grow a cactus too for the spines.
3)Taper off on the allotments. I planted them until the high 60's because I had the seeds and was already at the herb patch. Otherwise I'd leave them be.
4) I'm at 80 and still doing bushes. The xp isn't the greatest but I want the jangerberries/poison ivy/whiteberries for herblore down the road. And they sell well.
5) I only plant 2 trees a day. I get most of my seeds from miscellania so there's no rush to plant more. Once a week I plant Lumbridge since I'm there anyways to do Tears of Guthix.
6) I planted a papaya in Lleyta and a palm tree in Catherby. I only dig these up when I have another papaya/palm to replace it with. I do harvest them everyday. You will need the papayas and coconuts as you go along. Stockpile them early.
Where to farm: I'm going to assume that once you reach this level you can travel pretty well in RS. That you can afford a glory and skills necklace etc. After much trial and error I've discovered that you the best way to do a farming run is to focus on one thing. Fruit and Regular Tree Route: Tag your Jade Vine in Ardougne and visit the bush patch to the south. Jog back up to the Ardougne south bank. Grab your Ring of Charos or 30 gp, an axe, 1 fruit tree (and Calquat if you can) and a Teleport to Varrock. Catch the boat to Brimhaven and plant your Fruit Tree. Run to Tai Bwo Wannai and plant the Calquat. Tele to Varrock. (Optional buy battlestaffs). Grab a tree and payments and plant in Varrock. Now hit the bank and grab 2 fruit trees, 1 regular tree and payments. Spirit Tree to Tree Gnome Village, then to Tree Gnome Stronghold. Run to the regular tree patch. Bank is right next to it. Now, if you can do so, grab an elf crystal and a teleport to Catherby. Hit the Lleyta patch and then Catherby Fruit tree. If you skip the Calquat you can do this run in less then 8 minutes.
In Catherby: Buy out Ahrein. Make super compost. Buy bananas if needed from charter ships. Buy baskets/sacks.
Herb run: Withdraw from your bank all of the following: skills necklace, glory, ectophial, 2 laws, firestaff, 5 seeds. Tele to Trollheim. Ectophial to Port Phamatys, skills necklace to fishing guild (Ardy allotment), glory to Draynor (bank) run to Falador patch (you can swing through Draynor Manor if you have turnip or belladonna seeds. My best time is 4 minutes flat.
15 Minutes: Trees then herbs.
Speedy: Herb run, fruit tree run. Tele to Yanille (have your house there). Talk to Bert for sand (you need the buckets remember?), plant hops. Go to house and use portal to Falador. Plant tree. Tele to Lumbridge. Plant tree. Games necklace to Burthorpe. Recharge glories and plant trees. Do the herb run every 70 minutes.
Quests to do:
53 Farming-Back to My Roots-Jade Vine-24,000 Farming (Another MUST quest)
45 Farming-Grim Tales-4,000 Farming
40 Farming-Rum Deal-7,000 Farming

Summoning Table

This is huge! If you click on the image it SHOULD open a new browser so that it's readable.

Table is complete with name, level, type of charm used, shards, xp per shard, specials and a lot of other good stuff. I wanted to add a column to show the best place to get the item needed but that would make it even bigger. I'm working on some other stuff so this should do for now.

I've got some analytics about various things in it that I'll post in the next few days.

Update 1: The animals in brown are non-combat familiars.

Farming Guide Chapter 2

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb171/Jaxana/Budg.jpg

I've gotten some feedback from my farming information that it would be helpful to post up the farmer payments. I'm having some problems scaling it to readable so I posted the link to it above. Take a look and let me know what you think before I waste too much time cutting it to fit.

It's ordered by level. The far right column shows how you can acquire the payments.

I want to eventually build a full blown farming guide. I think the next piece I will write (once I get this refined) is the "advisory" piece. IE what to do at what level and how to do it.

Agility Guide V1

As I write this I'm sitting 2k xp away from 73 agility. I've made an effort to spend some time at all of the agility areas. What follows is my experience, tips and opinion about each area. This is not mean to get anyone to 99, just to help you along. As always…feedback is welcome.

What I wear: I always wear boots of lightness and Ava's Accumulator. What?!? No spotted/spottier cape? Nope. You can feel free to but here's my logic: The boots reduce my weight enough that whatever else I'm carrying registers at less then 5kg. I'm not saving a ton of run energy by losing a couple more kg. BUT…..I can gather arrows which will help me with my range. And since I hate gathering feathers and fletching I chose to wear the Accumulator. YMMV.

Toy Mice: I wish I had done this when I was starting out. You take a steel bar and a plank of wood to a level 3 crafting table. Make mice. (These are tradable and can sometimes be found for sale on forums.) Wind, release, catch. 15xp for each catch AND attempt to catch. In other words, the lower your agility the faster you get xp this way. Fastest way I've found to do this is get 28 mice. Wind and release them all at once. Find a very small room that's not busy. POH not ideal since the rooms are too big. Between the doors in the Stronghold of Security works well. Upstairs at the houses at Tai Bwo Wannai works. Small archer towers work too. The smaller the room the less chasing around you do. My best is 30 releases/catches in a minute. I gave a friend of mine 3 toy mice. He was at level 5. Took him less then 20 minutes and he was at level 20. And that's with going to find a place to work in. A friend of mine used my house to make 28 of them. He started at level 42 and within about 15 minutes he was at level 44. THIS IS THE BEST METHOD TO TRAIN UNTIL AT LEAST LATE 40's. If you are training for Legend's then lock yourself in a room with a set of toy mice and have it. Downside is that a random may take you away and you may lose your mouse.

Skullball: Requires completion of Creature of Fenkenstrain. You can start doing this at 25. Didn't time it because, well, I'm really bad at it. My friend who can do it in 3 minutes gets about 700 xp. So that works out to about 20k per hour. Better then the gnomes (EVERYTHING is better then the gnomes). Basically, wear your Ring of Charos and head just east of Canifis. Talk to the trainer, a skull will roll out. Kick it through the course. A tap is one square, kick is 5 and shoot is 7. The sooner you complete the course the more xp you get. If you really hate running laps this may work for you.

Gnomes: This is what I did. Takes 4x longer (plus much more annoying) then mice. I kept getting messed up in the branches and talking to the gnome trainer. Take a few laps to see what agility training is about but I would not train here unless you simple couldn't find any mice.

Barbarians: The barcrawl is annoying. However, you will have to do it eventually to access the Barbarian Stronghold so you may as well get it out of the way. I just got the little punch card and used it whenever I was passing through a town with a bar. Eventually got them all. Much better xp then Gnomes, still not as good as mice. Still failed some of the obstacles in my 50's. I'd suggest sticking with mice but this is a nice change of pace if you're so inclined.

Pyramid: Love it. Hated it until I hate 44. (Hadn't been there since level 38). Suddenly, I wasn't failing as much. Much faster in my 40's then Barbarian's was. Mice may or may not be faster. I'd take 12 water pouches and filled up the rest of my space with food. As I got better started substituting energy pots for food. Once you can get to the 2nd obstacle on the 2nd level in less then a minute you are getting better xp then at Barbarians. Nice break from the other training locales and the only time while training agility you will make money. I'd recommend it especially with a friend.

Penguin: The course is too long, uses up too much energy. I kept missing the click points. Tried it a couple times. Failure rate is too high and bank is too far. My favorite looking course however.

Brimhaven: Ok. Everyone says use Brimhaven as it's fast. Well….I don't believe it. (My numbers for my table come from wearing Karamja gloves and cashing in 1k tix). If you hate running laps and find this interesting go for it. I gutted it out for 1k tickets and could happily never set foot in there again. (Took me 2 months off 1x a week training for a few hours each time). People love it because when you cash in all those tickets you take a big jump. I think my 1k tickets got me from 67 to 71 (or something like that). If you miss a ticket, you set yourself back. Randoms will set you back. And it's just flat out not the fastest xp at ANY level. If you go I suggest you wear monks clothing. When you get down to about 15 hp turn on restore hp faster prayer. The prayer bonus will let you keep the prayer on longer. Eeking out every little bit. Also, if you wanted to waste them, strawberry's are 5 to a basket and 6 hp each. That's better then cakes for food. (Keep in mind, you want your hp to stay around 10. The damage you take is related to the amount of HP you have so at fully health you lose 7xp but at 15 hp you only lose 3. Lower hp, less food, longer training time.)

Wilderness: Level 49 with a pot to get in or 52. Trained from 52 to 60 here. Ok, not great. Didn't care much for the course. Got pk'ed a few times. I'd suggest it from 52 to 60. I'd try to knock it out in one big session. Two big trouble spots are the pit you fall into and the start point. You always want to keep one obstacle between you and everyone else. If you see someone fall into the pit (rope swing or balance log), STOP! Don't cross a rope swing or balance log until you see them emerge. I've seen people hiding down there waiting to jump someone who's fallen in. Wait for them to reappear. If they don't, well….either go ahead but be very wary or hop. The beginning of the course, similar issue. People will suddenly appear from the walk way and try to stab you. I usually run from the top of the climb to the pipe and crawl through. Then I catch my breath. Once I used up my supplies I didn't care if I got pk'ed and ended up back in Falador. This is the ONLY course I would recommend using a spotted cape.

Werewolf: I think this is a highly underrated course. First of all, I didn't like all the drama of the pk'ers in the wildy. This is very quiet as hardly anyone is every here. Two, you can't fail anything but the final zipline. (Don't wear any headgear). The lighter you're traveling, the less damage you take. As soon as you take your first step onto the course the trainer throws a stick. Retrieve it and give it to the guy at the end for the course bonus. Third, it's a lot easier to get here and back to a bank. I usually took 8 food and the rest of it as energy pots. The 7k less you get an hour here then Wildy is made up for in the less prep/transportation time. Plus, when I trained here, I would plant at the Port P allotment and take an ectophial. By the time I ran out of energy/food it was time to check my allotment. Good use of time.

Ape Atoll: At level 70 I failed infrequently enough. My problem…and it's just me….is that sometimes I can't tell which monkey I am and find myself running like a crazy person (monkey?). Yeah, that's a personal problem I know. I like this place, have my occasional problems finding the right spot to click on. Got some good advice to pass on: Point your compass so North is pointing to the bottom right hand corner. Then play with your camera view and if you do it just right you never have to monkey with it again. My only other problem with it, it's a pain to get to.

Dorgesh-Kaan: Tried a few laps and liked it. Another trick someone told me: Use your ignore list to note what you are supposed to grab. No intention of trying the grappling route. So far, I like it. 14 successes, 1 failure. Need more information before I have full comment on this. Like that it's near a town/bank.

Farming Guide V5

Huge thanks to everyone for providing feedback, especially Hypollita who's been patiently reviewing my earlier efforts. Feedback is appreciated, just post a comment!

Run 1: Slow growers
Take with: Ring of Dueling. 5 Tree Saplings. 4 Fruit Tree Saplings. Farmers Payments. Axe. Runes for Home tele. Tinderbox.

This should get you to every tree, fruit tree, calquats, and cactus.

Optional: Tele to Trollheim and plant herbs (70 minutes).
Start out in Varrock planting a Tree (T).
Run to the Spirit Tree NE of town.
Go to Gnome Tree Maze
Plant Fruit Tree (FT)S
Spirit Tree to Gnome Tree Stronghold
Plant Fruit Tree (FT)
Plant Regular Tree (T) (Bank is right over the planting spot)
Ring of Dueling or Run to CW (Bank) OR Hot Air Balloon From Grand Tree
Hot Air Balloon to Taverly to plant Tree (T)
Run to Falador to Plant (T) (Bank)
Home tele to Lumbridge
Plant Tree (T)
Ring of Dueling or Run to Al-Kharid
Plant Cactus
Tele to Catherby (Bank)
Plant Fruit Tree in Catherby
Tele to POH (or take a boat from Ardy or Charter from Catherby)
Brimhaven (FT)
Take cart to Shilo if you want to plant Calquats

Hints:
Keep in mind that you can pay the farmer 200gp to cut down the tree for you. I just burn them with my tinderbox if I run out of space.

You can switch the last two stops to Brimhaven then Catherby. If you are going to use the Run 2 immediately afterwards then Catherby should be your last stop.
Otherwise, I’ve been using Brimhaven so I can use my POH to get to my next activity.

If you have oaks/willows which are relatively fast growers plant them in Falador and Lumbridge and check on them as you make your allotment runs. Plant the slowest growing regular trees in Varrock and Tree Gnome.

I try to use only one kind of tree & one kind of fruit tree. That way all the farmer payments take up only 2 spaces and I take them all out at the beginning of the run. Most of the time though that's a luxury and I just go with what's on hand.

If you don’t have “new” trees to plant you’ll still want to pick the fruit off your existing trees. You get a little bit of XP and you’ll need the fruits for farmer payments. (You could do a circuit of Spirit Trees Varrock>Tree Gnome Village>Tree Gnome Stronghold>Tele to Brim and pick fruits a couple times a day. Relatively fast and can be squeezed in after a round 3 run)

Run 2: Fast Growers

This will hit all the allotments, Trollheim, mushrooms, belladonna, 4 bushes, and 4 hops patches.
Take with (not all at once): Seeds. Farmer Payments. Dramen staff. Ectophial. Axe or Combat Bracelet. 2 Fire. 4 Law. 2 Earth.

Plant Allotment at Catherby (A) (Bank)
Run to Legend’s Guild and get on Fairy Ring Circuit
Fairy Ring to Misc (B)-CIP
Fairy Ring to North Of Seer’s Village-CJR
Plant Hops (H)
Fairy ring to Canifis (S)-CKS
Plant Mushrooms (Bank)
Fairy Ring to Necromancers Tower-DJP
Run to Ardy Bush Patch (B)
Fairy ring to Legend’s guild (Bank)
Ardougne Allotments(A)
Tele to Yanille
Plant Hops (H) (Bank)
Use Wizard Tower to get to Draynor
Run to Draynor Manor and plant Belladonna (S)
Falador Allotments (A)
Run to Port Sarim
Boat to Entrana
Plant Hops (H)
Boat to Port Sarim
Run to Rimmington
Plant Bush (B)
Ecto to Port Phasmatys (Bank if you need to)
Plant allotments (A)
Tele to Trollheim (H)
Bracelet of Combat to Champion’s Guild or Home tele to Lumby and canoe
Plant Hops and Bush (H,B)

(Plant your lowest level bush at Champion's Guild if you are planning on doing a Run 3 immediately afterwards).

Run 3: 70 minute or less cycle (removes bushes)-Remember, herbs take 70 minutes to grow so don't hit Catherby until it's been at least 70 minutes or you'll find yourself waiting.

This will hit all the allotments,Trollheim, and 3 hops patches.

Plant Allotment at Catherby (A) (Bank)
Run to Legend’s Guild
Fairy ring to Canifis
Fairy Ring to North Of Seer’s Village
Plant Hops (H)
Fairy ring to Legend’s guild (Bank)
Ardougne Allotments (A)
Tele to Yanille (Bank)
Plant Hops
Wizard tower to Draynor (Bank)
Falador Allotments (A)
Bracelet of Combat to Champion’s Guild or Home Tele and Canoe
Plant Hops (H)
(If you have redberry bushes planted at Champion's guild you may be able to harvest and replant here).
Ecto to Port Phasmatys (A) (Bank)
Tele to Trollheim (A)

If you do this route you’ll have time at the end to make a circuit of all your fruit trees. Not the best farming xp but you’ll need the fruit for farmer payments and the like. Especially things like papayas and coconuts which can only be farmed.

(You could do a circuit of Spirit Trees Varrock>Tree Gnome Village>Tree Gnome Stronghold>Tele to Brim)

Speed Farming

Start with 2 herb seeds, 6 veggie seeds and 1 flower seed. Take 4 "compostable" items. Fire staff and 10 law runes, and ectophial.

Replant My Arm patch (H) Set your amulet of nature to this patch (if you have one, otherwise write down the time)

Ecto to port phasmatys, plant patches there (H,V,F)

Walk to canifis. Bank grab mushroom spores, bush seed (payment) and dramen staff-replant mushrooms (S)

Use fairy ring to lost city, do CIP to miscellenia, and replant bush.(B)

Go back to lost city, exit and walk to draynor

Bank grab belladonna, air staff, 1 law rune, 6 veggie seeds, 1 flower seed, 1 herb seeds, farmer payments and compostable items.

Walk to Draynor manor and plant Belladonna (S)

Walk to Falador and plant patches (H,V,F)

Walk to Falador east bank Get out 1 tree sapling and either 1 bush seed or 1 tree sapling, farmer payment, air staff (if you have a tree already planted in Falador).
Plant tree in Falador (T)

Walk to Rimmington, replant bush (B) (I do this whenever I have Redberry/Dwellberry/Cadavaberry seeds)

OR

Plant tree in Taverly (T)(Unless I have tons of tree seeds I tend to skip this. Otherwise, I'll hit it on my first pass through when I'm carrying an axe and doing all the trees.)

Bank- grab fruit tree. Plant Fruit Tree. Stop at bank on the way back and grab 6 veggie seeds, 1 flower seed and 1 herb seed. Also grab compostable materials and buckets. Plant allotment (FT,V,H,F)

Run to Wolf Mountain, use glider to Grand Tree

Bank Grab 2 fruit tree saplings, 1 or 2 tree sapling (if necessary), a couple of empty baskest, hop seeds, and farmer payments. Walk to regular tree here also (FT,T) (I only use this if I have tons of tree seeds. Otherwise I just use the other 2 tree spots).

Use spirit tree to Gnome Maze stronghold, pick/replant fruit tree. (FT)(If you don't have a 3rd fruit tree pick up 2 earth and 2 law while banking and just tele to Watchtower. However I recommend you still go pick the fruit tree to get the little bit of xp and some fruit.)

If you have a lot of tree seeds then Spirit tree to Varrock. Duck under the wall, run over and plant your tree. While visiting Varrock you may as well pick the 4 white fruit off the King's tree. They give a tiny bit of farming XP and replenish run energy. Very handy. You may need to hit the Varrock bank.

Spirit Tree back to gnome tree village and walk to Yanille (or use 2 earth/2 laws and tele there)

Plant hops patch (H) Bank Pick up bush seeds.

Walk NE to bush patch South of Ardougne, pick/replant (B)

Bank Grab Ring of Charos or 60 gp, 2 laws and water staff, 1 fruit tree sapling, 1 calquat seed (if you have). (If you don't have tons of fruit tree seeds and no Calquats you can skip this step to save time)

Pick/replant Brimhaven.

Run down to Tai Bwo Wannai village (S)

Tele back to Ardougne (or sail back if you are in Brimhaven)

Bank grab standard set of veggies, herbs, flowers, farmer payments and compostable items, 1 Cactus seed, 1 bush seed, hops seeds, and axe. (One empty bag may help too)

Replant Ardougne patch. (H,V,F)

Use ring to Al Kharid to pick/replant cactus. (S)

Use Canoe to Bush patch near Champion's guild (B)

South to hops patch (H)

Tele to Lumby

Bank-regular tree. If you are going to kick off round 2 then go ahead and grab 2 herb seeds, 6 veggie seeds and 1 flower seed. Take 4 "compostable" items. Fire staff and 10 law runes. Ectophial.

Lumbridge tree patch (T)

This leaves out the Entrana and Camelot Hops Patches.

When you've completed your first round of the day then you can go to this pattern:
Trollheim-->Port P-->Falador-->Camelot (hops if you want) or else go straight to -->Catherby-->Ardy-->Yanille-->Tele to Lumby and canoe to bush then run to hops.

Requires:
46 Mage (My Arm's Quest)
Fire staff, Water staff, air staff,
5 Law
Ectophial (Ghosts Ahoy Quest)
Dueling Ring
Grand Tree quest
Tree Gnome Village quest
60gp or ring of charos

Other hints

Hit all your trees in the first run of the day and just carry an axe. After awhile it's easier to carry it then bank/unbank it.

I wear boots of lightness and Ava's Accumulator. I never end up weighting that much and I'd rather have the arrows.

I make all my farmer payments using noted items.

I usually take an empty bag or baseket with me to save on space.

I'll swig a little energy potion when I bank to keep my running ability up

On your second run of the day (no trees/fruit trees) grab a bunch of pots and seeds from your bank. When you are Lumby plant and water all of the pots so that they have "sprouted" by the time you need them.

If you get good at this add this twist:Farm only potatoes in Port P. Take a bag with you and fill it when you harvest. At Falador plant onions, paying with the potatoes you just bagged. At Catherby use the bagged onions to pay for cabbages. (This doesn't work perfectly as most of the time I don't get 20 of each veggie per round. But I also have a couple hundred pot/cab/onions in my bank so I just top off the bags when I bank.)

If you follow this method you will be farming everything. Which also means you'll need every kind of payment.

I use redberries/dwellberries/cadavaberries/all hops but jute and barleyfor compost.

I save barley, jute, veggies, fruit, specials, jangerberries, flowers etc for farmer payments and herblore.

Take compostable items and always make compost. There are lots of bucket spawns in the game (Al-Kharid, Catherby, S. of Ardy zoo) plus hand in the sand can help you along with this. Always use supercompost on herbs. I use regular compost to make farmer payments with and for flowers.

I use Catherby and Port P for my "regular" compost and Falador and Ardy for my "super" compost. If I'm headed towards Ardy I know to take pineapples or tree roots. If I'm headed to Port P I use hops. Even if you don't fill it up you add to it all the time and you aren't comingling regular and super items. (This'll make more sense when you do it).
