99 Smithing via artisan's workshop and 99 Attack from doing some c1 floors.

Here's my notes on Artisan's Workshop, ymmv:

I think doing the tracks would be a good way with someone with less then 30 smithing to get started. It is free which at lower levels is always a good thing.

I despised cannon making so I have no thoughts on it. But try it and see how you feel, some people I talked to really liked it.

Dwarven burial armor and ceremonial swords are the only way to go at higher levels. As much because the xp/hr is good as you can see the pipes to fix.

Pipes give pretty good smithing xp, respect and are free. Highly recommend doing them when they burst.

If you are going to burial armor you can semi afk it. Yes, you won't get top level xp but it's still not bad. I did Steel Ingots I for the sake of cost until I got within 100k, then it was all Mithril II. I would suggest doing steel I to start with until you figure out what you want to do.

You can deposit ores in noted form.

You can use SC tools but don't bother. You want to earn respect too. You'll get faster xp but not faster respect.

I bought Quick Repair first. That helped a lot. Then bought the learner and student boosts from Suak.

Ceremonial swords are a good way to mix it up. It gets easier as you get higher in levels because your hits aren't so crazy. By 98 I could get a perfect sword 50% of the time.

Perfect swords are worth 120% xp. A lot more then the same materials would be for regular smithing.

I'd suggest mixing up the swords and the armour depending how much attention you want to pay to things.

I can't provide xp/hr since I kept experimenting. But it's pretty good.

I always killed the ancient armors that were coming off the wall, but I was looking for some attack xp. I don't think it's especially efficient to do it this way but if you are just playing for respect it's not bad.

I did artisan's workshop with the thought that at some time in the very distant future (2+years from now?) if I wanted a trimmed completionist cape it'd be out of the way. I still need 90 respect but I did put a big dent in it.

Once I finished up my time at the workshop I had less then 20k to 99 Attack. Normally I dungeoneer using strength but I had some low floor dungeons to do so I ran through them with friends and quickly got 99 Attack.

July 12, 2011

Haven't been posting much. Been heads down in skilling.

Been doing bits of dungeoneering with friends and my melee skills are slowly working toward 99. Bound a primal battleaxe 100k xp short of 99 Attack. So went and found all of Clarence and been killing the various creatures in the artisan's workshop. I remember trying to find all of Clarence right after it came out. And how much I struggled and kept getting poisoned. I went this time and it took 15 minutes and wasn't any problem. Amazing what a few hundred levels (and 2 years of updates) can do.

Otherwise been working Smithing (June 27 for 97 and July 9for 98) via Artisan's Worskhop. It's expensive and not especially fast (nor especially slow) and it's one of the requirements for the Trimmed Completionist cape. No idea if I will ever go for that cape but figured I may as well get this out of the way if I ever did.

Also got a champion tacklebox. Not a huge deal but I really enjoy fish flingers. It (along with some penguins and trolls) got me to 98 Fishing.

I've been maxing out my assists since effigies came out. If my friends didn't need one I would go looking for a runecrafting assist. That finally resulted in 99 Runecrafting.

So my plan is to throw penguins and trolls at Fishing (slow, boring), do construction assists nightly (expensive) and then work my other skills in between. Looking forward to 99 smithing in a few days.

October 19, 2010

An incredibly busy week. Finally really got the hang of dungeoneering and got 88 and 89 Dungeoneering. Still a mix of friends and w117 randoms. Getting pretty good at getting into a floor and getting through them quickly. Learning a few tricks here and there.

Also got 93 Smithing and 94 Construction with effigy assists and smelting little amounts of gold ore while waiting for people. What I really want are 91 RC assists but they are hard to find. And if a friend needs an assist I'm happy to help if I can. So I have been getting some runecraft assists. I see a lot of people looking to do assists in runecrafting and farming. Hard to find people for construction and smithing. So I take what I can quickly and figure that I can use penguins/lamps/diaries to get to 93 and maybe have a broader scope of people to go after.

Got a little burned out on dungeoneering. It's a high focus skill. So I did some slaying. I love hellhound tasks now! It's so easy to cannon them in the Taverly resource dungeon (the one you can access after level 40 or whatever Dungeoneering). I've had 3 tasks there and never seen anyone there. Set up a cannon and go. It's not as fast as mutated bloodvelds because of how the spawns are set up but it's a lot faster then just meleeing them. Plus, since they don't drop much it's easier to grab what you want and go full throttle.

Got a few clues. Nothing exciting except that I got a Saradomin Platebody! It's my second one so I sold it and bought the full helm and have a request in for the shield so I can complete the set.

Otherwise I'm looking for a team to do floor 45 with. Or I may just go w117 it on Thursday or Friday. Kind of switching between slaying and dungeoneering with a bit of fletching/smithing/crafting while I stand around semi afk.

And right before posting this I hit 93 Attack and 93 Defense while finishing an Abyssal Demon task. That's 2359 total levels now.

September 28, 2010

Hit 92 Smithing last night. Just smelted gold with gauntlets while chatting with friends and reading the forums. And did assists....and rocks. Did a little bit every day while I looked for people to assist so it didn't really feel like I was working for it.

Then got to woodcutting, which I've been doing while waiting to tag my jade vine if I'm early and while standing around trying to get a dungeoneering team. Plus a lot of rocks. 96 Woodcutting.

And then did fletching. This one I was trying to work on since it's one of my few sub 92 skills and it was easy. Made a lot of maples unstrung which I have no use for but with my kingdom it's dirt cheap. And it left me free to chat and work on other things. So add in 92 Fletching.

And it got me to thinking. I think dungeoneering was needed. Here's why.

You have skills like woodcutting, cooking, fletching that are stand around and chat with your friends skills. They get treated like second tier skills because they are afkable. But really they work for a MMO. They let you do something while chatting.

You have skills like all the combat stuff, firemaking, hunter etc where if you want to do them well you can't really chat. Or at least will be less chatty.

And now you have dungeoneering which requires the focus, you can't just chat but you can be with your friends doing stuff with them. Which kind of makes it the combination of the other types.

Having said that, I think there's a little too much afkable stuff but not a big deal.
91 Smithing, 78 Dungeoneering and I know I'm forgetting something. Anyways, been in and out of RS. It's hot here and I've been trying to get some end of summer stuff done. (Side note: Painting gutters is not fun).

Anyways, I really like dungeoneering. I've got 34 floors done in this run and I'm waiting for the update to do 35. Hoping I can get to 79 Dungeoneering before I have to reset. I did a floor 1 over the weekend and at 35 prestige even that wasn't bad xp (ok, so not great but not painful to see).

Anyways, once the update comes out I'll be doing a bunch of dungeoneering (thinking of spending the weekend pushing hard on it) so if you're looking for someone feel free to shout.

June 6, 2010

Tons of levels this weekend.

65 Dungeoneering. Finally learning group dungeoning tactics. I really prefer small floors, duo or triple. But I feel like I have to do floors 30-35 large 5:5. It's always that fifth guy that is the problem :)

93 Mining, almost all stars and rock collecting.

89 Smithing, in my pursuit of rocks I'm using gold gaunts and smelting ores. Slow but cheap and very easy for me to read other things while I smith.

90 Fletching.

90 Slayer. Kindly enough, my first task after getting 90 is Dark Beasts. 216 of them.

94 Prayer. A friend had a houseparty. I buy 100k worth of bones every week plus sell my red chins from hunter and buy bones. I want 95 before facing Nomad again.

As long as I keep chasing rocks I'll have weeks of no levels and then bursts of levels. 2284 total. Decided my goal for June is 2300 total. Trying to get 70 dungeoneering this month so 5 levels there.

January 24, 2010

Just a quick note. Got to 87 Smithing. Been buried with all my RL friends who wanted to do something after the holidays. So the last couple weeks haven't had tons of time in game. Mostly been runecrafting and slaying with smithing when I need to watch football :D

Getting back on to my regular schedule now.Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile.

I have been thinking though about what could really make 2010 a good RS year for me. Like what could Jagex do to really make me happy. And you know it is? Better support for clan/group activities. I'm working on some ideas now but I'll just toss this out there. For a MMO there's scant support for group stuff and little need for it either. I wish that would change

October 30, 2009

Today was all about finishing the elite Ardougne tasks.

First, 93 Summoning. I used all my blue charms on Geyser Titans. Expensive but very good xp. Then I did the calculations and realized that I needed to make Wolpertinger's to have any chance at all of hitting 93 with the charms I had. This is where things got interesting. I realized this the previous night actually and asked some friends to buy raw rabbits for me in Oo'log. (You can buy 100 a day) For the record, these are impossible to buy on the GE. Wolf bones were easy to buy but no bunnies. So I started making the pouches. Two item pouch creation is a pain. I finally figured out that if I had my pouch, shards and charms and then a random 4th item then I could withdraw 18 bones and then "max" out my rabbit withdrawal. Then put into my terrorbird all the rabbits and bones. That'd be 6 of each. Then take out 18 rabbits. So basically set x=18 when withdrawing and the rest is the "all" button. (It's hard to explain but try it if you really want to). Anyways, I made pouches like crazy and two good friends went to Miscellania and slaughtered bunnies. By the time I ran out of the store bought ones they had gotten enough of the natural ones that I could get the level.
And by the way, this whole thing was expensive and I used up nearly all my cash. However, at level 93 you can trade in all your Wolpertinger's for shards so now I have tons of shards for my next push.

After that it was gold smelting and a few bars of knives to get 86 Smithing.

Then off to Evil Dave's basement where I caught rats. Lots of rats. Hate that. Another friend had stockpiled some stews and gave me some. After much messing around and stupidity on my part I got a 5 level boost. That allowed me to make the rune limb. (By the way, you don't need to alch the rune bars yourself. And once you do one step for the task a little list will show what other steps you need to do.)

So now it's getting rather late but I was able to convince some friends to go do fishing trawler with me. And they invited friends and so on and so on. Ended up playing two games just for the fun of it. After that I headed to the ZMI with my pouches and my titan and that finished off the diary.

September 21, 2009

Yesterday got to 87 Hitpoints. Wasn't trying, just got the level.

Had to wait around for a friend so did smithing. Then I got serious and got out the SC hammers. 85 Smithing.

Wrapped up today with a lot of construction. Went flying past 84 Construction. Again, SC hammers. I got tired of banking so I took 5 with me to my house. Turned on Monday Night Football and just clicked clicked clicked. I'm going to guess that my next construction level will coincide with the next football game I watch.

August 31, 2009

This weekend I pushed hard to get a few levels that were near completion done.
Knocked out 86 Herblore, 83 Construction, 84 Smithing and 93 Woodcutting. So that ends the month at 2111.

The crazy thing about herblore....when I was starting I was in AWE of people who had 40 pots they could give me. Now I have a few thousand of nearly everything and try to pawn them off. It's really strange how perspectives change as you level.

The woodcutting was from evil trees. If I'm at the GE I check to see when the next will pop. If it's less than 15 minutes I'll check it out. And use up all my leprechaun magic.

Smithing was gold bars. I had a bunch from the stars I was chasing.

And I LOVE the construction update. So much less annoying.

July 27, 2009

83 Smithing
86 Fletching
85 Herblore

Pretty busy couple of days. Got up to 2090 now. Been working on agility every other day. Hoping to get another few levels before the month is up.

I've found that the barbarian agility course is slightly better then the gnome one. But I alternate between the courses to keep things interesting.

June 30, 2009

In the last 2 days I've gotten to 83 Slayer, 87 Mining and 82 Smithing. At 2081 now and getting closer to 98 agility.

June was a very distracted month for me. Tried to focus on agility but didn't make the best of progress. Slowed down my farming. Checked my kingdom every few days but only gathered resources every other week. So many days I didn't have any trees to farm.

July's plan is agility and farming every other day. Hoping to end this month at 2095.

One of my best friends in RS is going into semi-retirement. I will miss him alot as I'm used to seeing him almost daily. Hopefully he will be dropping in to visit often, otherwise I'm going to have to spam his email account.

December 14, 2008

Late last night I got to 81 Woodcutting.

Then today I got to 87 Firemaking, 81 Smithing and 87 Mage. Firemaking is firemaking, not much to explain there. I used superheat on a bunch of mith, addy and gold ore to get the levels.

Checked my fruit trees and they were grown. Then finished some herb farming and ended up 2500 away from 95 Farming. Well, I didn't have the patience to wait so I did the vinesweeper minigame. If I had been smart I would have checked all my bushes and calquat tree.

Anyways, after spending much longer at Ms Winkin's Farm then I wanted to I got to 95 Farming. And all this mad skilling got me to 2,000 total levels :D

October 23, 2008

On the 22nd I got 80 Construction. Realized I had plenty of ores to level smithing so I just went all out on oak larders.

Today, got to 80 Smithing. Also, have a ton of mithril bolts :D.

So that concludes the goal I set out at the beginning of my 2nd year (with 8 days left). All skills are at 80. I don't include summoning because summoning wasn't out at the time.

Now, having said that, I worked a bit on summoning today. I had a made a bunch of different pouches to experiment with summoning. Cashed in a lot of them today along with 100k. And what did that get me? About 20k summoning. This is going to cost a fortune.

Here's a trick I learned though: Using a spirit terrorbird I take out everything I need to make pouches plus 5 pouches or scrolls to trade in. I make the pouches and cash in what I want. That opens up 5 spots which allows for easier swapping out with the terrorbird. Plus, it provides me some of the shards I need.

Also, found all my penguins.

1949 Levels

October 18,2008

Been steadily chipping away at my levels. Now that I don't really have any easy levels they are taking a lot longer.

I have extra time today since so I got to 78 Construction. Superheated about 1k mithril ore and got to 85 Magic plus a good chunk of smithing xp. Then smithed all those bars I made and ended up at 79 Smithing.

For construction I've been doing a mixture of mithril armorstands and oak larders. Mithril gets me smithing and construction xp and is cheaper but sooooo slow. Larders are faster but will end up costing me more.

Had an unusually bad tree run. Was just growing bananas, apples, willows and oaks. Had more dead trees then live trees. Need over 700k for my next farming level.

September 30, 2008

Spent 1 million GP on shards. Finally got to make Bunyip pouches. Don't plan on training slayer anytime soon but thought it would be a good idea. That 1 million gp got me to....68 slayer....about 3k away from 69. Wow is summoning going to be expensive. Got a lamp or two and some more gold charms from Bork. Got myself to 69 Summoning to tie up the month.

Two days earlier I got to 76 Construction and 78 Smithing. Built mithril armor stands, a lot of them, and got the two levels. These are really really slow since you only use two boards at a time. On the other hand, considering that these are already two slow expensive skills, I'll take the trade off and keep doing the armor stands.

Ended the month at 1935.

August 31, 2008

Ended the month with 77 Smithing and 80 Slayer and 1919 total.

Getting close to leveling a few other things. Been doing quite a bit of ZMI. With pure essence at it's current price it's a money losing venture. I figure it's break even for me at 120. So making deaths for a few levels, then probably bloods.

I think I have enough supplies for 79 smithing. Once I mine to 80 I'll be short. Probably do some armor stands for construction (since I need to do a ton of that too).

I'd love to get to all 80's by the end of September.

So goals for September would be:
80 Mining (1 level)
80 Smithing (3 levels)
80 Thieving (4 levels)
80 Runecrafting (5 levels)
80 Construction (5 levels)
92 Farming (just because)

July 30, 2008

July 27: Used up all the gold ore in my bank and hit 74 Smithing. Now that's a boring skill. What was good though was I was able to catch up on some back reading.

July 28: Messed around and did a bunch of things. Some mining, some farming etc. Even worked on some smithing. Nearly broke so I alched about 250 air battlestaffs (apparently all my money was sitting in my staffs.)

July 29: Did the new quest. Hate the speed clicking quests. I ended up having to make a lot more pouches then I should have. The upside being that I got 64 Summoning. If you do the Spirit of Summer don't forget to go pick up the extra xp available via various portals in the wildy.

July 30: After the quest I realized I was less then 10k from 75 Construction. Used up nearly all my planks (oak, teak, mahoghany) making a random variety of items. Ding! Another level :D Smelted about 1k mithril bars and used those in combination with all my mithril, steel and addy bars to get to 75 Smithing. Now I guess it's time to get back to mining.

Just 2 more little levels to getting everything but summoning up to 75. Really hoping to get it by tomorrow.
1887 Total

July 9, 2008

Finally!! I thought that it would be no big deal to catch 800 sharks and get 80 Fishing, boy was I wrong. It took much longer then I thought it would. Shark fishing is by far slower then barbarian/monkfishing. At least now I have the sharks to go with my green charms so that when I get to summon Bunyips I'll have plenty in stock. Not that I will be getting 68 summoning anytime soon. Saving my reds and greens up and really only using Tears and Gold ones (I'll use some blue ones if I need to.) But once I get serious about slayer again I should be close to being able to summon bunyips.

Wanted to get some fast levels since I think I'm going to gear up to do some serious runecrafting. Knocked out 72 Construction and 73 Smithing. I find construction boring and annoying to train but my level in it is still low enough I can go pretty fast with my butler. The smithing level is a small milestone. Now I can smith addy bolts. I' ve been saving all my addy bars for that since that's the most effective thing I could use them for.

One more day of Construction and/or smithing then I think 10 days of runecrafting.

1870 total

May 1, 2008

In the real world I've been powerleveling puppy training and weeding. Which leaves little time for RS leveling. Been trying to get on daily and just do a tree/herb route, Bork and Jade Vine.

Had a bit of time this weekend and took all those ores I mined and got to 72 Smithing. So April ends at 1818. Not bad. Completed a few goals, have a few others still out there.

Probably will be slow RS (and blog) wise for another week or two.

My goals for May are simple:

79 Slayer
80 Range
79 Attack
79 Defense
79 Strength
72 Runecrafting
75 Prayer
60 Summoning
88 Farming
Total: 1850 (the above will get me to 1841 and I should get a few hitpoint levels, crafting, etc)
