Haven't been posting much. Been heads down in skilling.
Been doing bits of dungeoneering with friends and my melee skills are slowly working toward 99. Bound a primal battleaxe 100k xp short of 99 Attack. So went and found all of Clarence and been killing the various creatures in the artisan's workshop. I remember trying to find all of Clarence right after it came out. And how much I struggled and kept getting poisoned. I went this time and it took 15 minutes and wasn't any problem. Amazing what a few hundred levels (and 2 years of updates) can do.
Otherwise been working Smithing (June 27 for 97 and July 9for 98) via Artisan's Worskhop. It's expensive and not especially fast (nor especially slow) and it's one of the requirements for the Trimmed Completionist cape. No idea if I will ever go for that cape but figured I may as well get this out of the way if I ever did.
Also got a champion tacklebox. Not a huge deal but I really enjoy fish flingers. It (along with some penguins and trolls) got me to 98 Fishing.
I've been maxing out my assists since effigies came out. If my friends didn't need one I would go looking for a runecrafting assist. That finally resulted in 99 Runecrafting.
So my plan is to throw penguins and trolls at Fishing (slow, boring), do construction assists nightly (expensive) and then work my other skills in between. Looking forward to 99 smithing in a few days.

Wow sorry about that last post. I reread it and realized that I had hacked together two different posts and neither made any sense. I really need to proofread better. On the 25th I got to 97 Runecrafting. Every single xp was either penguins, lamps or assists. I don't think I've actually earned 50,000 xp by making runes since I hit 91. I've been fairly consistent with doing my assists every night. When friends ask I usually do whatever they need but more often then not I use 117 Daemonheim or Assistclan and in those cases I only advertise runecrafting. The next day I got to 97 Slayer. I actually really like slayer and I train so many things at once that this one kind of crept up on me. Then tonight I went to a clan fishing event and got 96 Fishing. I've done a lot of fish flinging and an occasional hour of fishing with my clan and that's about it. Not sure how I want to train fishing once I decide to. I do try to do one round of fish flinging every day so that helps move it along without it being dull.

First the levels,
Feb 3 got to 96 Runecraft followed on Feb 4th by 95 Range. It feels like cheating when I get levels doing nothing but assisting. But I still get my 30k a day.
Second,
The wildy goes away, next Jagex announces that we can pay our way out of trouble and then the censor goes away.
My prediction for the next two updates:
1) Microtransactions. We pay $10 gp and get 50million gp or something stupid
2) Welcome to RS-Dating. Go to Falador, fill out this simple survey and we'll match you with your new pixel b/f or g/f.

I was closing in on 2400 and wanted to finish it before Christmas. So I pushed hard and got to 94 Fletching which brings all my skills to at least 94. With the assists I had been getting smithing xp and was coasting along. I dug out all the ores I had at a clan event and superheated a bunch of them. Then I found 2 half used sc hammers. I can free up and two bank spaces? Woohoo!! With dungeoneering bankspace is at a premium for me so I finished those out and got to 95 Smithing. So at this point I was sitting at 2396 and really wanted to just get 2400. I started looking at the effigies I had banked. I found a few woodcutting ones and got my hands on an axeman's folly. That gave me a couple of lamps that I used for Runecrafting. Then I found 4 thieving/construction 97's. I am not a fan of thieving and can always do assists for construction, but I decided I really wanted the bankspace more. So to my house, brewed up some tea, opened the effigies and hit 95 Construction and using the lamps on Runecrafting hit 95 Runecrafting. (side note: If you do rc effigies 91 and 93 are a pain to find. 95 is very easy. Something to look forward to).
About this time a friend asked me to join him dungeoneering. We ran through a few floors and when I looked it was 1am. I've got some time off work so this wasn't a big deal. But I also saw that I had gotten enough crimsons for 99 summoning. (Blues are too pricey for me). So I spent some dungeoneering points and got to 96 Dungeoneering. All that was left was 4 trips to the summoning obelisk in Gu'tanoth (I needed to buy shards too) and I found myself with 99 Summoning and 2400 total levels.

Got 94 Runecrafting on Sunday (11/28) to finish out November with 2385 levels. My master plan is to work on 2400 total levels which means doing whatever until I magically get some more levels.
I was out hunting penguins and it was exactly as Merch describes it here: http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/blog/merch_gwyar/index.php?s=d8ad80ee4b202c1b7cdf5f3fb563ccc9&showentry=57000
I read that and laughed. Personally, I like the guy who yells "Where's the penguin on dragontooth?" (substitute Entrana/McGrubors woods). It's a tiny little area. Just GO THERE AND LOOK!
Got a friend of mine to start playing and he loves it. It's kind of fun to talk to someone who's just learning the ropes and is having fun. The stuff that I find annoying or mundane he's going "wow did you know?" and it's kind of cool. I know at this point that I don't even see a lot of RS. I just go without looking.
But I did have a good laugh with a friend the other night. We were listening to two guys discussing various outfits and how they looked. How disappointed they were with the dragon scimitar and the angle it was held, where the elbow sat etc. And then what bottoms went with a robe that one of the guys had.
I'll be honest and admit-if you were to walk into my house in full 3rd age I would have no idea. I'm sure after 4 years I've seen it somewhere. I think I can recognize the basic metals, d'hide and prossy armor. I think I'd know Guthans if I saw it. But I don't really recognize much beyond that. Even though I've owned all kinds of stuff. I know it by it's attributes (bonuses to strength, hurts mage, is heavy etc) but I just use overhead camera view for 90% of my gaming and couldn't really comment on colors, spikes, length etc.
It's actually pretty cool that some people put that much effort into how they look. Just reminds me that people really do play for their own (very random) reasons.

Got to 92 Runecrafting. Wasn't planning on it. Just started chipping away at the elite diaries, did a few assists (I have to say that 91 RC is the HARDEST thing to find). Anyways, I got it without planning on it as I was assisting someone and then fireworks!!
Got 83 Dungeoneering. The more I do this skill the more I like it. It feels like a skill, not such a grind.
6 weeks til my 4 year anniversary. On track for all my goals and thinking about my year 5 plans. I have a few things on my list but not sure what else.
Just a question but when penguin hunting....do you really need to know where the McGrubor's Wood or Dragontooth Isle penguins are? Really? Cause I can see with Gnome Stronghold, Jatiszo, Neitznot etc that those are pretty big areas with room to hide. But McG's? Dragontooth? You could run the whole thing in less then a minute.

2300 total.
Everything but dungeoneering to 90.
Met my goal w/3 days to spare :)

Runecrafting 89, Fishing 89, Cooking 89......almost all from fish flinging and rock collecting.
42 Dungeoneering. Thoroughly enjoying myself. I've reset my prestige 3 times. Once I knock out floor 21 I'll probably reset again. Then wait til 35 to rest after that (tears will kick on next week and I want to work on other things. So by the time I rerun the first 21 levels plus whatever new levels I unlock plus tears I'll be pretty close. And probably ready for a break).
I've done various sized teams and dungeons. To be honest, I just go with my friends when they go and go by myself when they aren't around. I don't see huge differences in xp anyways. Well, I do but it's also a huge difference in time. When I solo I spend more times "tinkering" with the skill to get a feel for it. When I go with others it's all about speed. I think it's hard to unlearn a lot of my old RS habits (like utilizing everything that is available to you) and focuse on just the dungeon crawling.
I read today's Dungeoneering Q&A. Looks like the new skill is an end game skill, meaning for high level players to use those levels on something. We'll see how that pans out.

2175 levels (yes, I know about the typo in my previous post).
87 Attack
87 Defense
88 Slayer
88 Runecrafting
86 Construction
That looks like a lot but keep this in mind:
I haven't leveled Construction in a long time, I get tears for it every week and I have tons of stealing creation hammers.
I've been working trying to work runecrafting at least every other day this month.
All the combat stuff is due to trying to get in one slayer task a week plus daily bork/jade vine etc.
So basically, what I"m saying is that I'm unfocused but every so often all those numbers get small enough that I can crank out a bunch of levels.

Finally. After chasing a star every chance I got I got to 90 Mining. If you're looking for mining advice from me you may want to think again. For probably the last 15 levels the vast majority of my xp has come from stars. And what hasn't come from stars has come from either mining the ore around where I'm waiting and some Living Caverns or whatever they are called. That and I adhere to my rule of never banking empty when I can avoid it. What this means is that if I'm doing something and I know I'm going to bank soon I make sure my inventory is full. So if that means filling up on clay or iron ore when I finish a star that's what I do. It's enough of a pain to get to a bank anyways you may as well go full.
On top of that I got to 87 Runecrafting. Making double astrals. Was going to spend the money on dragon bones but then I saw that gold ore is crashing. Not sure how cheap it will get. I decided at the same time to really clean out my bank. All that extra food I packed, all the stuff that I just randomly acquired, plus the astrals, plus all the range gear that I had less than 100 of (bolts, arrows, darts, knives etc). Sold them all. Bought enough gold ore for about level 93. I may buy my way to 98 if the price keeps dropping. I think I'll keep runecrafting and see what happens.

Finally got a fletching level. I don't seriously fletch, keep that in mind, I just do it when I'm waiting for an event to start or for a friend to pick up something. Anyways, got to 87 Fletching. Also finally got that RC level so that's 86 Runecrafting.
Today's Tip of the Day: When you're non rechargable jewelry (Games Necklace, Dueling Rings, etc) get down to 1 charge high alch it. It'll alch for the same as a fully charged one and you'll make back most of what it cost you to obtain it.

Worked slayer throughout the week. Got a dragon skirt and 2 dragon medium helmets. Funny, when I first started playing that would have made me rich. Now it's just a nice drop. On the other hand, I have equipment that's better then anything that existed when I started.
Anyways, got tired of the constant slaying and went to hunt penguins. Used the points on RC (one of the rare times I haven't used it on summoning) and hit 85 Runecrafting.
Then I visited Stealing Creation and picked up 5 hammers. Burned through them. The changes with the butler interface makes fro very very fast xp.
85 Construction.

84 Herblore on the 15th
87 Summoning on the 16th
Got to kill the Odd Man's Skeletal Beast thing. A little disappointed. I can kill the Jade Vine Daily for 2x the xp that I get for the skeletal beast. And the beast was a harder quest.
Anyways, it seems that Jagex is loving these little mini-distractions and diversions.
I'm almost used to not farming anymore. So now the pattern is Jade Vine, Bork, Battlestaffs, Flax, Sand, Pineapples, Seaweed. Although I'm only really consistent about the first 3.
I've been doing a lot of runecrafting and herblore. Herblore when I'm standing around waiting for someone and runecrafting the rest of the time. Not the most exicting skill but making good money.
I think my next goal is going to be all 85 by Halloween. That'll be my 3 year anniversary. Was thinking of that for awhile and wasn't sure if I would be able to get it. But I think I'm getting pretty close and it's doable in the time allowed.

Busy weekend. Was getting close to some levels and my big goal of 2100.
So....knocked out a waterfiends task, got a rune defender, started on a Black Demons task and got 83 Defense.....83 Strength....83 Attack.
Cleaned up junk in my bank. Hit 91 Crafting. Alched some of it and got to 91 Magic. Spent most of the weekend at ZMI running around like crazy. Finally pushed it to 83 Runecrafting.
Hunted some penguins on Sunday morning and used it to get 87 Summoning.
My friend Cross had an open altar last night and thanks to that I can check off 86 Prayer.
That's 8 and 2099 in 3 days.
And no, I didn't no life this weekend. All but prayer and rc were below 50k at the start of the weekend. It's just that chipping away at some skills from bork killing, battlestaffs etc came together and I just mopped up with 10 minutes or so of working on a skill.

Got to 94 Hunter on the 13th. Tried to hunt on Saturday and it was a frustrating exercise. Decided I was happy, for now, with 94 Hunter.
For the last week I've done nothing but hunt. The only time I left my hunter spot was to restock on pouches and such. Got about 2.3 million xp. Not bad. In terms of hours that was about. Averaged about 400k a day. Most days that worked out to about 80-100k an hour. Some hours I was more serious then others etc.
Anyways, hunting was a pain on Saturday so I decided to help a friend learn to hunt. She was appalled by how bad the behavior is at the red chin grounds. She obviously had not read my blog at all this week :D. Went and did my bork/battestaffs/jade vine thing. Then I went farming. Hadn't farmed in a week and I was way off my usual stridge. Forgot things, confused myself. Didn't check my kingdom for the last 2 weeks so I have plenty of trees to plant now.
After I did that decided to get a runecrafting level that I was nearing. After about 2 hours of rc I decided that I could get faster xp hunting penguins then I could runecrafting. So off to penguins. Then back to the ZMI. Finally got to 82 Runecrafting. I would suggest that if you use the ZMI to fill up your bank to max. Take out your pouches, all your astral and law runes. Then you can just bank all instead of clicking on each rune. By taking all the keys off my key ring and making a bunch of unfinished pots I was able to max out my bank.
Then a friend of mine was working on prayer. Since he was keeping his gilded altar lit I decided to use it to get to 83 Prayer!

Finally, after 10 hours, finished that quest. May have gone faster but I was doing parts with friends and we messed around. Used all that xp on construction, summoning and runecrafting (x2). That got me to 78 Summoning and 81 Runecrafting.
If you do it (and no spoilers here) I'd suggest taking energy pots and never getting below 50% energy. Allows for better running for your life. And don't wear/carry anything you can't lose.
Spent the last two nights fighting Tormented Demons. No great drops but lots of fun. Got some decent xp from the fights.
Got 81 Prayer by using up the last of my dragon bones.
1975 levels.

I need to get better about blogging. Forgot that I got 79 Runecrafting. Now I have 80 Runecrafting too. That's a grand total of 1941.
Farming is less then 75k to my 93. Crafting is coming along slowly but surely. I think I have everything I need to reach my smithing goal. Really the issue is with coming up with resources for construction. I think I have it but it'll be close. And I don't want it to be close :D
Restocked some of my herblore seconds. Realized it's been a very long time since I worked that skill. Getting low on some of my stockpiles. Been refilling them in bits and pieces the last few days.

7 days since my last update. Why? Because it's taking forever to gain levels now.
Got to 78 Runecrafting two days ago. Using ZMI which is much much faster then Bloods. I'm making a modest profit (approx 40k an hour) so I can't complain. Closing in on 79, hopefully will get there before the weeknd and then make it close to 80 by the time the weekend is over. I'm learning to function on lunars. Still farming though I skip Trollheim and Catherby at the moment.
Got 82 Cooking on the 2nd. Should have enough food to get me through the month.
The gaps between levels is now getting crazy. I realized the other day that it takes as much xp to get from 1-70 as 70-80 as 80-85. (Fudging a little here and there). That's ridiculous! Then again, until around level 50 in a skill you are not going to get max speed in it, usually.
Found all the penguins this morning. I'll put up a poll on what I should I use my penguin points for. On the one hand, I tend to use them for summoning since it's a pain to raise. On the other, I'm thinking of using them on prayer. With summoning, I make pouches and can use them for something. With prayer, I use the bones and that's it. Yes, I can pray longer (which is why I want to raise it) but there's no output that I can use for other things. Vote in the poll!
September 19, 2008
Got a runecrafting level 2 days ago. Used my penguin points to get to 77 Runecrafting. Been making lots of bloods since then. Spending half my money on buying more pure essence and half my money buying planks for construction.
Got to 80 Mining last night chipping away at a star. Really enjoyng the star chasing that was added. I've been chasing stars one or two times a day.
Going to work on thieving this weekend to get that out of the way. Been doing a bit of smithing lately while waiting for people. Been smelting and smithing mithril and gold. Mithril is slower but I can sell the mithril bolts I make (for a small loss) to buy more supplies.
1928 total.

Finally got to 76 Runecrafting. Been down with a cold so not much gaming time.
Tried out the new distractions and diversions quite a bit the last 2 days.
Circus: Love it! Pay attention to the audience and do the max (10) emotes. Good xp pay out on this for very little time. Free range, mage and agility xp.
Penguins: Good xp but pretty annoying. Found 9 of the penguins over 3 hours. Might get easier as I get used to it but found this pretty annoying. The hints are terrible. And the clan chat I was in to help was very hit and miss.
Star Hunting: Kind of enjoying this. Have to work as a team. Good mining xp. Can accumulate 200 stardust a day and cash it in.

Star Hunting: Kind of enjoying this. Have to work as a team. Good mining xp. Can accumulate 200 stardust a day and cash it in.
